Shopping Spree!!! ...... in the basement.

I got bit by the Tweak Bug earlier in the week and since I'm more than halfway between paychecks I couldn't very well go shopping.  Have I ever mentioned in my blog just how bad I am with money?  So bad in fact, that a few years back, Mr. Bliss put me on a budget.  That didn't go very well, as every time I ran out of money I came up with new and interesting ways to beg for more.  Get your minds out of the gutters girls! Mr. Bliss had no choice but to give me my own separate checking account.  If by now you're thinking, "TMI Kim!" then you may want to leave.  But if somehow, someway you can relate, there's room in my boat.  Come on in.

So at 40 years old, I'm proud to say I have my own checking account.  Yes we share one too, but I don't dare touch it.  The temptation would be too great.   So what that means is, I have 2 weeks to make my "paycheck" last.  If you're still in my boat, then you know what payday is like.  The term "hog wild" was invented just for me.  Unfortunately, I spend the next week and 6 days trying to figure out how to un-due the damage I've just done.  Do I return something or make my family live on spaghetti for a few days?  It's a pickle people.

So when the urge strikes to do some tweaking around the house, but the budget doesn't permit a trip to Marshall's I have no choice but to shop the basement.  And that's exactly what I did.  I thought I'd share with you what a shopping spree in my basement could yield on a good day.

I had an empty wall in my Kitchen that needed a little somethin-somethin', so I moved this Southern Living At Home wall pocket from another room.  I found the sunflowers in my "Fall Decorations" tote in the storage closet.

Kinda like it there.  Please excuse the poor lighting.

After yardsaling last week, I brought home more "stuff" which found a new home, but required me to shuffle things around a bit.  These SLAH planters got moved next to the stove.  I shopped the basement and found Kitchen-y things to put in them.

Also tweaked the kitchen hutch.

While in the Fall tote, I also spotted this pretty planter that I trash-picked last year.  I threw my geraniums in there and I like the colors together.   In the basement, I also found this SLAH candlestick and put it next to the planter.  Can you tell I have a thing for Souther Living???

Now don't tell anybody, but on the back of that planter are acorns, bein' it's a fall decoration and all....

I started tweaking the Powder Room next.  Remember that table I trashpicked from a neighbor a couple weeks ago?  Well it found a new home in my garden-themed Powder Room.

I shopped the basket on top from out of the basement and stuck some towels and a candle in it.

Some tweaky love in the Family Room.

See that desk in the corner?

Yeah, that one.

I got those balls on clearance from Home Goods and needed something to put them in.  I shopped the basement and found these two separate containers.  Lurve how they look!!

So that's it.  I got rid of the Tweak Bug and made it through just in time for payday!  I will try to pace myself, but for me, it's way easier said than done.  Wish me luck.

I've started doing that myself! I've been checking out the basement and trying to find boxes I packed up last summer when we were on the market. I'm trying not to buy any more new stuff, especially since I've loaded up on crafty type things and I need to use up what I've got.

I love all the things you wwere able to tweak. Your basement must be filled to the brim with stuff... how fun!

Wow! I love your basement shopping! You're so cute and yes, Dear One, I've been there. At times, I'll say many years ago, Mr. Precious took my check book away! Somehow he just couldn't get it that I was saving him money! :)
I'm better now, but I could go crazy in an instant! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

FUN post! And you did a great job, shopping your home! It would be so easy to spend a fortune on-line, being introduced to so many cute artists and shops through blogging. {I just received a little painting that I ordered from a blog, today. Shhh, don't tell Mr. Privet!} xx P&H
PS: I was crazy for SLAH a few years back, but no one seems to be having the parties, anymore, here :(
