Christmas Centerpiece

While the rest of you are busy decking your halls and trimming your trees, the hubs and I have been hard at work preparing our nursery.  Not much time for Christmas decorating this year.

I did manage to put together an easy-peasy Dining Room table display though.  It is the first thing you see when you enter my home after all.

I call it My Blingy Tablescape.

I will share pictures of the nursery as soon as I can!

Have a great day!

My Christmas Mantle

I haven't been able to do much decorating (doctor's orders), but with the help of my kiddos I was able to get the Family Room mantle, which is my most favorite thing to decorate,  all spiffed up for Christmas.

I got the wreath and swag from Sam's Club a few years ago, and it has dictated the color scheme in that room ever since.  The brown and gold coordinate nicely with the adjacent kitchen.

The tin plaques were on clearance from Walmart a couple years ago, but they were a yucky green color before and didn't particularly go with anything in my house, so I always just put them back in the tote thinking I would eventually find a use for them.  Well this year I decided to just spray paint them.  A little Oil Rubbed Bronze s.p. did the trick.  I then added some gold leaf Rub n' Buff to bring out the detail.

As you can see, the middle one also serves to hide the cord from the wreath.

I love using apothecary jars at the holidays filled with shiny ornaments.

This sign dangles from the garland.  I got that while on vacation in Tennessee last Summer.

A close-up of the wreath.

On the floor I added a glittery box with some white lights for drama.

And a large gold glittery tree.

This picture is of the lamp that sits on the table next to my fireside chair.  I dressed it up with a bow and tassel.

I'll be joining Marty's 41'st Tabletop Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life today for this post.  Please stop by Marty's to see other great displays.  And keep sweet Marty's family in prayer.  They are dealing with a family emergency this week.

Also joining Layla's Christmas Mantle linky party at The Lettered Cottage.  Thanks to Layla for hosting!

Up next, my Dining Room centerpiece display.
Thanks for stopping by!

Sister's House Tour

Happy Cyber Monday everyone?  I did my share of shopping online today, ordering everything from toys to clothes and nursery furniture.  Yep, my computer is almost out of gas and running on empty.  But I have just enough juice to squeeze in a post.

I want to share with you some pictures of my sister's beautiful home.  Each year we spend Thanksgiving here and my sister puts out such a gorgeous tablesetting, complete with gifts for all of her guests.  There is so much beautiful decor to take in so let's get started.

Her kitchen is huge!!!

To the left of the above photo is the morning room.

Left side:

To the right:

Her Dining Room, where all the Thanksgiving magic happens.
Love the ceiling!

Looking in from the Living Room:

This Living Room is just gorgeous.

Don't you just love the columns?  There's a lot of moulding detail in my sister's home.

Love this bombe in the corner.

My sister is a detail person like me.  Her accessories are amazing.

The view from the front door.

As you can see, it's quite a big house - about twice the size of mine.

Love this family room.

No space has been overlooked in this house.

Next I will do a post about the upstairs of my sister's lovely home.  Luckily for me, we are only 2 miles apart!  I get to see this home as often as I want.

I will leave you with a scene familiar to many of you on Thanksgiving.........after dinner.

Notice anything????  That's RIGHT!  No women!  While the men in the family let those endorphins sink in while watching the game, the women are in the kitchen doing dishes.  Not to worry, these are all wonderful men who make it up to us during the rest of the year.

Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday and I can't wait to see all of the Christmas decor that's soon to be popping up around blogland!

As for me, my decor is going to be scaled down quite a bit this year due to my situation, but I'm not at all disappointed.  I can still sit at my computer and take in all of your lovely homes.  Thanks for stopping by!
I'm going to give my computer a nap now.

More 'Tween Decor, A Winner & Baby Pix!

I can't help myself.  I've gotta show off my latest baby pictures.

We can debate for hours about what's what here, but the ultrasound tech said that's my little guy with his hand up against his cheek and I think he's looking at the camera.  What do you think?

Hey, what's that?  He says we have a winner!  Yep, the winner of my CSN giveaway, generated by Random.Org, is the wonderful Nancy from Nancy's Tidbits.  Here's a tidbit for ya, did you know that Nancy's daughter Hannah, who also has a blog, Turley Times, is due about a month after me with a little girl?  Yep.  And if you visit her blog, you can see some way cool pix of Hannah's baby in 3D!

Congrats Nancy.  Give the lady a hand!

That is definitely a hand...

Now, I probably won't be doing much Holiday decorating around here this year given my situation.  But there's nothing stopping me from tweaking what's already out.  Now don't worry - I didn't move all this stuff around in my condition.  That's what my slaves children are for.

After spending a month straight on the sofa looking at my coffee table, I opted for a small change.

This class hurricane was only $6 at Marshalls.  Filled it with potpourri and plopped a candle in there.  Good to go.

To the right of the sofa is my great aunt's old secretary.  I got bored looking at that too.

So I added that there plate.  I got it a while back at a yard sale and it sat on the island of misfit decor until I found a use for it.  But if I were him, I wouldn't get too comfortable there.

Between episodes of All My Children I glance up at the entertainment center.

Got this piece for a steal at Sam's Club a few years ago and I love it.

Added a cloche to the top right.

Then AMC came back on and I was distracted again.

Next commercial I moved into the brown room otherwise known as my office.  It's really the living room, but it serves as my office/mom cave.  I've been trying to add some sparkle in here to brighten it up a bit.  It was way too dark and heavy with all of the brown furniture.  You can go here to see what I mean.

Well, I made another small change with this elegant mercury glass lamp from Marshall's.  Only $40~

It's the perfect size for my desk.

Here's the before:

And as much as I love this tall lamp, it was too heavy for the room.

This is much better I think.

Don't you hate dangling cords?
Have a wonderful weekend!

Tabletop Tuesday 'Tween Buffet

I'm joining the lovely Marty over at A Stroll Thru Life for her 39th Tabletop Tuesday party.

For this party I'm showing off my "Tween Buffet" - it's not Thanksgiving, it's not Christmas - it's 'tween both.

I love me some mercury glass....

Mercury glass bowl and birdies bought at Target on clearance last year after Christmas.  Two candleholders bought on sale at Michaels.

Yikes!  I forgot all about my CSN giveaway!  Forgive me - I've had a lot on my mind these days!  But that's no excuse.  If you haven't already entered, you can do so here.  I will draw a winner on Thursday of this week......I promise!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to visit Marty's blog for other tabletops.

My Romantic Before & After

Joining Kim's Before & After Par-tay over at Savvy Southern Style for my chandy reveal.

Here is the before of my master bedroom with the ceiling fan.

Bor-ing....

Last week I shared first that I was crossing my fingers about a chandelier I found on Craig's List for $50, then secondly that I got it.

What should have been an easy-peasy lemon-squeezy project turned into 14 hours of chaos.  I'll spare the gory details except to say that the shaft came loose and the piece that it screws into was stripped.  Fast forward to hours worth of taking the entire thing apart piece by piece and then the wonderfully fun process of trying to put it all back together!

Let's just say I have the most wonderful husband on the planet for not only giving up his entire weekend for me, but foregoing his favorite pastime - hunting.  I can't tell you how bad I felt as this was not only a splurge, but nowhere near being anywhere close to the top let alone the bottom of my to-do list...

Fortunately, there's a happy ending to this fairytale story of a couple that was truly meant to be - my master bedroom and one very mischievous chandelier.

Once again, before:

And after:

Love it!!

And guess what???  My man loves it too!

Course he didn't admit that freely....

I'll make it up to you this weekend sweetie. I love you!!!!
(Y'all can get your minds out of the gutters now, I am on bedrest after all!)

Go visit Kim's blog for more B&A's!
