Welcome To My Kitchen!

It's been a while since I posted pictures of my Kitchen.  I thought you might enjoy seeing the room in the House of Bliss where we spend most of our time.  So grab a chair and have a seat while I show you around!

Would ya like a bottle o' water??  Ha!  Who put that there???  Later it will magically turn into wine.  Just like in the Bible.

AS you can see, it's not a huge Kitchen by any means.  And it definitely does not have enough cabinet space!  Waaaaaaa.  (That's me whining).  Hey, speaking of wine, did you take that water bottle?

Way back when I first started blogging I did a post about how Mr. Bliss and I recently remodeled our Kitchen on the teensiest of budgets.  I'm talkin' teeny tiny!  Our home is 11 years old and we remodeled last year.  Our cabinets were an upgrade and I really liked them.  Since they were in great shape we decided to keep them.  We replaced the countertops with granite in Tropical Brown.

The walls are Ralph Lauren Devonshire Olive from Home Depot.

The floors are hardwood throughout the first floor, except in the Family Room.  I love how it looks in the Kitchen, but it's a major pain to keep clean.  The Shark is my new best friend.

Got the area rug on clearance from Lowes for $20.  The splash of red was needed in this room.  And the olive matches the wall color.

The original oven.  I think Wilma Flintstone used it to cook brontosaurus burgers.  Seriously, it's that old!

We got a neighbor to do the backsplash for us.  It's a tumbled marble and it complements the granite really well.

The island is my favorite part of the Kitchen.  It faces the Family Room so I can see my family and watch TV while I order pizza prepare meals :)

This tray I picked up at Marshalls a few months back and I just got the urn for $5 at a yardsale last weekend.

My all-time favorite Craig's List find - the Kitchen hutch.

Got it for $250 and I love it!!!!  My Kitchen has an entire long wall with nothing on it.  The way the house is configured there was no way to fit cabinets or counters here.  Without a big piece of furniture like this hutch, it just looks way too bare.  I use it for extra storage.

We'll save that for later.....

It's got that distressed look that I love so much.

Dishes are from Walmart.  Glasses from Sam's Club.

More splashes of color.

A lampshade that I added some fabric and trim to.

I've got so many canisters in my kitchen.  Like I said, I need the storage.

Brown jugs from Michael's, wooden pear from Home Goods.

A view into the Family Room.  That's Amy's woobie on the floor.

On top of my fridge.  See?  More canisters!

A basket neatly stores some of my cookbooks.

The planter I won from a CSN giveaway recently.

The door to the right of the fridge leads to the Mud Room.  The other door is in a small hallway that leads to the Dining Room.  That is my pantry.  The picture I got at a moving sale and it's one of my favorites in the house.

The photo doesn't do it justice because of the light.  That's my Dining Room and the pantry on the left.

On the wall opposite the pantry hangs this huge DIY chalkboard.

My sink is in the corner and I love that I have a great view of my backyard while I let the dishes pile up in the sink wash the dishes.

Barley Twist Pedestal from Southern Living At Home, purchased at a yard sale last year for $5.

A niche next to my sliders.  I got the wrought iron and wicker stand at a yard sale for $8.

I sometimes use it to store potatoes and onions.

I know, more canisters.

What's a Kitchen without a candle.  Tray from Michael's, napkin holder from Marshalls, candle from a flea market for a quarter.

I hope you enjoyed your stay.  Please come back again!

xoxo,
Kim

Very pretty kitchen--so oranized and clean. I'm not sure I would show the top of my refrigerator--a little too much dust.
I'd need too do a little sprucing it up first. :)

Your kitchen looks beautiful and so inviting. I have a ton of canisters too, and always have an urge to buy more of them. I'm not sure I want to know what that means...

Kim, very nice kitchen. You and I like a lot of the same type accessories. Chickens, urns and a lot of the same colors in our homes.

Hi Kim, AWWW...I really enjoyed the pictures and the way you told your story, so cute. I love your kitchen hutch, what great find! I have the same tumbled marble backsplash as you but I put mine in a diamond pattern. I love your granite counter, mine is peacock granite. One day when I have time I need to post a few pictures. Your home is so beautiful and I love your little one's woobie on the floor. Are you sure there are children really living in your spotless home?
Thank you for visiting and leaving your kind comment on my "My "TWEET" Tablescape Thursday", it was so much fun designing this table. I'm really into birds this year and I love the yellow and blue in this tablescape.

Ooooooh Kim I totally enjoyed walking through your kitchen. It's so neat and designed beautifully with just the right touches here and there! I think your granite counters and backsplash look alot like mine. Great minds!! I have wanted to paint my kitchen cabinets white for a long time...I see from looking at your photos how mine would look if I did, but sheeesh it would be a big job.. so maybe sometime in the future. Anyway... loved that DIY chalkboard frame! Very nice! Like the view from the kitchen into your dining room. Well... thanks for sharing! Hugs!!

Hi Kim, I just wanted to pop back and say Thank you for visiting and leaving your kind comment on my "Show and Tell Friday"... It's All In The Numbers! I had a great time using the flower pots to display my house numbers. I thought it was a fun idea and have also bought a few to do for my sister’s house. She'll be surprised and I hope she loves them! I also had fun with Knock, Knock, Whose There?
What Does Your Front Door's Color Say About You? I received a lot of fun replies to that question.

I love to see other people's kitchens. Yours is so tiny! And it looks pretty big to me, but then I'm from England, and everything is smaller over here ;)

Holy cow! Did I enjoy this tour of your kitchen!!!!! You have beautiful things for sure -- I saw a lot of Southern Living at Home items! Really, Kim, your kitchen is fantastic, you are so lucky. And that hutch is to die for. It looks like it would have cost $2500, not $250. Thanks for your gorgeous tour!
Best regards,
Gloria

Kim, What a great kitchen...and I love that it's a "normal person's kitchen"...not a mega-huge over the top space that most of us don't have. You've done a beautiful job and have made the most of all your space. And your "finds" that you've come across...wish I was the lucky. Your hutch is beautiful and a great addition to the kitchen. Does it have any markings as to where it's from or who it's made by? That metal and wicker stand at the end of the cabinet...very cool! Thanks so much for sharing...now to check out some of the other rooms in your home.
