Finished Gallery Wall

After much tweaking and a thousand holes in the wall, I've got the Gallery Wall I've always wanted in my Living Room and I couldn't be happier.  It's incredible to me how adding art to a wall can transform a room from sterile to warm and cozy.  It's obviously not everyone's taste, but I'm a Traditional girl at heart and I believe you should surround yourself with things you love.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulicious day!

DIY Candlesticks

Recently I had one of those  "saw them - didn't get them - went back for them - too late they were already gone" moments, which turned into a "don't need these anymore - should probably get rid of them - wait maybe I can use them for something else" moments, which turned into a "DUH! Why didn't I think of that sooner" moment.  That ever happen to you?

So I'm at Marshalls looking at stuff I don't need and have nowhere to put when all of a sudden I spy with my little brown eye these candlesticks that I DO need and I DO have a place for (hubby?  are you reading???)!  but i didn't get them....What?  Huh?  The Earth must have been off of its axis that day.

Around the same time I was remodeling my master bedroom (you can read about that here), which left me with two pretty, but broken table lamps.

I brought them to that spot in the garage that serves as a go-between for items that are probably going to end up on the curb, but I'm not emotionally ready to part with them yet.  That's when a lightbulb went on (not the lamps, they are broken remember?).   So I strapped on my DIY cape, grabbed a paint brush and went to work.

Removing the cord was a snap.  Then I used my handy-dandy A.S.C.P. in a combo of Old White, Chateau Grey and Olive followed by some brown wax.

Pretty cool huh?

Don't you just love happy endings? (Hubby, stop reading!)

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulicious week!

Kim

My Forever Valentine

No I'm not late for the party, I purposely chose today to recognize my true love.

I was immediately attracted to Rich because of his preppy, clean-cut good looks and gorgeous blue eyes.  But it was his amazing sense of humor and thoughtful nature that made me fall in love with him.  And even though I'm still wildly attracted to my man, it's the unconditional love and generous spirit that continue to draw me close.

And while the rest of the world took a break from the everyday madness yesterday to enjoy the special someone in their life over dinner and a movie, my Man and I were like two ships passing in the night.  He came home late from work and I went to bed early.

Sound like a couple of unromantics destined to a life of monotony?  To some, maybe.  But rather than save all of our romance for one special day, we prefer to spread the love throughout the year.  So I'm recognizing my Valentine today.  And tomorrow and next week.  Because our love grows deeper every day.  The bliss may have started when we were just two broke college kids with nary a responsibility.  But now, more than 20 years, 3 kids and a thousand responsibilities later we are still blissfully happy.

I love you Rich.  Yesterday, today and forever.

Wild About Mother Nature

I woke up this morning with a terrible migraine after being up all night with my poor sick baby.  But I stumbled upon this blog party and decided to man-up link up instead of crawling back into bed.

Barb over at Grits And Glamour is hosting the first ever Wild About Mother Nature linky party.  I'm a fan of Barb as well as Mother Nature, so why not.

The gist of the party is pretty self-explanatory.  Just snap a pic of anything in your home that has texture or is otherwise nature-inspired.

I just put together this bowl-o-balls in my Living Room and stuck it in a tray on the coffee table along  with a shell and a wicker votive holder.

In the kitchen I replaced the Christmas balls with moss balls and other natury looking thingamabobs.

I think those are fruit wrapped in twine.  Not sure, but I like how it all looks in front of the wicker charger.

Larger moss balls fill matching containers at each end.  I'm a little OCD when it comes to balance.

A grapevine wreath on the top shelf of my kitchen hutch with a burlap bow.

And while typing I just glanced over my shoulder and spotted this in my curio cabinet.

The pic is a little grainy because it's behind glass.  I found this moss-covered container at a yardsale and filled it with more natury thingamagigs and plopped it on top of some antique books.

Thanks to Barb for hosting this fun par-tay, and while you're over there be sure to check out the progress on her home transformation.  Barb's kitchen is the bomb-diggity and was featured in a magazine not long ago.  She's got serious decorating skillllzzzz!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulicious day.
