Meet Herman!

Oh I'm just overflowing with excitement at our wonderful news here at the Bliss House.  In addition to finding some pretty amazing treasures at the various yardsales, the best treasure by far was found at our local animal shelter's adoption fair on Saturday.  It's been 2 months since we lost our precious Chloe and we decided to go look around and see if there were any pets that were looking for a new home.

There were so many sweet dogs walking around with bright orange vests that read "Please Adopt Me".  How heartbreaking!  Well, there were alot of dogs that captured our hearts, but only one that truly melted them.  I'm proud to introduce you to Herman.

Herman is the name that he was given by his previous owners and well, we kinda think it suits  him.  We thought about changing it, but he's two years old and it would just confuse him even more.  So, we came up with some pretty cute nicknames.  I call him PeeWee Herman, Mal calls him "The Herminator", and Amy calls him "Hermeister".

While at the fair, Alex, the adoption volunteer assigned to Herman, told us that he's from Mississippi and was recently brought here by Petsmart to be adopted.  He's a Jack Russell Fox Wire Terrier mix, which you would NEVER know, because he's just as calm and quiet as can be.  Honestly, he hasn't even muttered a single sound since we brought him home!  Alex went on to tell us that his previous owners told him they were going to take  him out for ice cream.  He got so excited that he jumped right in the car and they proceeded to drop him off at a shelter.   Well, of course this had me in tears.  I walked away briefly to discuss his adoption with the rest of the fam, when I glanced over and saw another family hovering over Herman.  Well, I would have no part of that!  No sirreee!  I immediately turned to Alex and said, "We'll take him!".  As I filled out the paperwork, I looked up at Alex and said, "You use that line all the time about the ice cream don't you?".  Her reply?  "Works every time!".  Well none of that mattered, cause the first stop we made on the way home was to Creanies to get a puppy cup for our new boy!

People, I am not exaggerating here, Herman is THE BEST dog in the entire universe!  He is so calm, LOVES people, doesn't jump, lick, bark, howl, cry, or get excited.  He just wants to be played with and cuddled.  No problem here!

This dog has more toys than my kids ever had!

He just loves his new surroundings!

And he's met all of our family and friends already.  They all fell in love instantly.

There's already a list of people who want to babysit Herman when we go away.

Of course now I don't ever want to leave my precious baby!

How could I?

While I'm on the subject of dogs, I'm asking all of you to please pray for Samm.  Samm is the sweet pet of one of our most delightful bloggers, Terri Smith of Dimples and Dragonflies.  Terri's dog was recently attacked by a vicious dog in their neighborhood and has undergone surgery and is recovering.  Terri is just devastated as you can imagine.  She's not ready to blog just yet, but I hope that you will all keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Have a wonderful week!
xoxo,
Kim

Oh, Kim....you have me squealing over Herman. My heart is melting!! I am so happy for all of you. He is a doll. How could anyone give him up? We have a Rat Terrier and I would have to say he is pretty calm (Milo), so I think sometimes they get that reputation and it isn't true. I know you and your family are just delighted and so am I. Keep posting pics!!

Prayers going out to Samm, poor guy.

xoxo

oh he is so sweet! Being such a dog person this post almost made me cry!! thanks for being such a lovely, caring person and opening your home to Herman! I can never go to things like adoptions or even past a pet store...its too hard for me to see those dogs!! I will check out your friends blog! Enjoy him, he is a cutie!

Isn't he adorable? I'm assuming he stays that size now since he's two. Great size; I've always wanted a small dog like the pocket poodle I had as a teen. So far in my married life we've had a part lab/part shepherd {passed a week before her 11th birthday} and our current Husky {9 this year}. Kind of big to hold on your lap while you're watching TV!

Oh Kim I am just crying with happiness over your precious new Herman! How adorable is he! He went to the perfect family home with you all. You can tell you love him so much already. Congrats!

I'm so sorry about the injured dog. How terrible. I hope he makes a full recovery.

Than you for your thoughts on blogging! I appreciate your input.

What a darling little guy! We have two rescued fellas - one for each of us to snuggle with! So happy that Cloe sent you a new furbaby to love and open your hearts to -- I'm sure she approves!

What a cutie! I love the nickname Herminator. Sometimes we call Larkin Larkinator but Herminator is funnier because it rhymes with Terminator. Enjoy your new little guy!!

Herman is just the cutest thing and it thrills me when I read about people who choose to rescue an animal instead of going to the pet store. So happy he found his forever home with your family! I'll say a prayer for the blogger and her injured dog. Such a terrible thing that happened.

Well, isn't he just cute as can be. I am so glad you went ahead and got another dog to join your family. I can tell he is already well loved. It is awful about that other dog that was attacked. I will certainly remember them in prayer.

I will say a prayer for your friend. Keep showing us Herman pics. I love when kids and dogs get in the pics. Makes them so much more personal and fun.

I bet he slept really good that night.

I'm so sorry to hear about Terry's dog. I wondered why she hadn't posted for awhile. I will sure be saying a little prayer for her and her furry friend.

Kim,

This post warms my heart. We adopted our little Rat Terrier, Scout (for $100) off craigslist. He was in his 4th home and only nine months old. I hope you find your beloved Chloe. She still might turn up. Buster (my cairn terrorist) was missing for weeks when someone finally saw one of our posters and returned him!

Kim, Herman is just adorable and will be the BEST pet you EVER had!! I have a little JRT named Sissy that we rescued from our daughter and her ex, well, she says I kinda kidnapped her.....anyway, she is such a sweetheart. She's a short-hair and I don't know how I ever lived without her. JRT's are the most loving, protective, smartest breed I've ever owned. She would probably really love to meet Herman, but he is much too young ~ she's an older woman ~ 11!! Her pic is on my sidebar.

Big Tx Hugs,
Stephanie and Sissy
