Why I Love January
To some folks, the month of January symbolizes "The Big Letdown". All of the preparations and festivities of the holiday season have come to an abrupt end and all we are left with are stubborn pine needles and extra pounds. The excitement has been replaced with an empty feeling of "what now?".
I, on the other hand, have long considered January to be my favorite month of the year. And I'm guessing that many of you feel the same way. I look forward to January at the end of every year with much anticipation. To me, it symbolizes a time to reflect and relax. In fact, I've come up with a list of reasons why I love January. So here it is, in no particular order.
1. My house is back to normal.
2. My family's schedule is back to normal.
3. No long lines at the stores.
4. No extra traffic on the roads.
5. No lists of things to do.
6. No Back-to-School shopping stress (this may seem a little random, but for me, it's actually when the stress of the upcoming hoopla begins to set it!)
7. No wondering how I'm going to keep my sanity and keep my kids occupied for the entire Summer at the same time (still plenty of time to think about that!)
8. I use my crock pot every single day and there's a nice hot meal for my family every single night.
9. Curling up in front of a fire with a good book is acceptable because there is no ensuing guilt about what I should be doing instead. ie., wrapping, baking, shopping, cleaning, etc.
10. And I've saved the best for last here ladies........More time to blog!!!!!!
So feel free to add on to the list. I'd love to hear what you love about January!

I love your thinking!
I just love that it's a new year with new opportunities. :)
A great list! I like January for some of the same reasons. It's just a nice time to wind down and relax. And if you have any super crock pot recipes...do share!
Have a great week...
Nancy
Thank you for this post. I too, love your thinking. I feel like I have the winter blues and your post puts things into perspective for me, thank you! =)~Liz
I love it too!!
I love that it still gets dark early and everything feels cozy and warm. I agree with the more relaxed feeling and no guilt for reading a good book or two!
I would be intersted in some of your crock pot recipes too!
I love the beautiful crystal blue skies of January! And the lack of leaves on the trees make it easier to see...smiles.
OMGOSH....My mailman just delivered the most DELICIOUS and DELIGHTFUL package I have ever received in my entire life.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH ! It is absolutely a work of art...and I mean that...a true work of art. Just beautiful.
The card is so sweet...and I can't wait to see Deeds and give her Amy's envelope. Deeds lives out in the country and, during the school week, I don't see her too often. Weekends, she is usually right here beside me. She has a birthday, her 8th, on Sunday, 10th, and I will be going out there to her party. I will include this Amy envelope for her, along with her birthday gift..
Thank you so much, again. This was such a SWEET thing for you to do (pun intended! :O)When I show it on my blog, everyone is going to be drooling!!
love, bj

Kim, This is great! I could give up Jan cold weather, but I do love taking down my Xmas decorations and having a blank slate for decorating! The the fire and a good book!! Thanks for reminding us of all the great things about Jan :)
Great post! I typically consider January to be my least favorite month, but now it is looking better...
Danielle
Kim,
I agree with all of those! I am wanting to use my crockpot more. Email me your favorite crockpot recipe, kay?
We are supposed to get 2 to 4 inches of snow tomorrow and we are all excited!
More time for me to blog! :)
A new month, a new year and the quiet of winter. A time for our brains to slow down somewhat and enjoy the quiet.
January brings time for crafty fun and what better time to be crafty than when it's snowing a frigid cold outside.
Melinda
Kim- I love this list.
You made me realize I feel the same way about January.
It's nice, isn't it?
Happy New Year friend,
Laura
I agree with you about not feeling let down after Christmas. Maybe it is having my new camera to keep me busy! How many squirrel or cat pictures can a person take? Are you using your new camera yet? I believe in learning by doing. I started shooting when I figured out which button to push!
Hi Kim, I usually feel the letdown after Christmas, but not this year. I am glad to have some free time, I was so busy this Christmas! I'm glad I was, but I'm happy to have a break and relax and get things back in order. Don't tell anyone...but I've been jumping back in bed after Chase goes to school. It's nice! Have a relaxing weekend! Kristen
