Yard Sale Season Is Underway In A Big Way!!!

It's been so long I almost forgot the sheer exhilaration that comes over me the night before a yard sale.  I can never sleep with all those visions of treasures dancing around in my head.   We've been hitting the flea markets for a few weeks now with the unusually warm weather, but actual yard sales didn't kick in until this last couple of weeks.

This morning we set out early and started at a church rummage sale.  Girls, if I can give you any advice on yard saling, the most important thing I can tell you is that if there is a church rummage sale you must always, always, ALWAYS go there FIRST!  You can hit the local houses later but the church sales are where you will find the best treasures and get the best prices.  Hands down.  This rule has never failed me.

This morning was no different.  I talked my BFF and partner in yard sale crime into getting there a half hour early.  Usually we wait until the sale is scheduled to begin, but I just had a feeling about this one.

The women running this sale were the sweetest ladies and extremely well-organized.  They welcomed us right in and we started grabbing and making a pile as fast as we could.

Right off the bat we spotted this grouping of vintage furniture.

A sweet little drum table.  See the price?

An adorable little harp chair for three bucks!

And a coordinating accent table.

Gals, we were on a roll!

I've been collecting a great assortment of my favorite Southern Living At Home items at yard sales but there was one thing that has been eluding me.  The coveted retired cake stand!
Does anyone here know CPR???
Holla!!

Next we spotted this pair of lamps for $3 a piece.
Not sure where they're going yet, but had to have 'em.

A stack of Traditional Home magazines for $1 that will keep me happy for the next few weeks.

But my most favorite find of the morning was this sweet tray for $5.

LUV IT!!

By the time we left the church it was barely 8:00 and we were gettin' jiggy with it.

On to a nearby town-wide yard sale.  Lots of walking and it was very chilly.  That's the problem with early yard sale season.  Ya never know how to dress.  It starts out cold and then warms up quick.

The theme of the day was candles.

Here a candle,

there a candle,
everywhere a candle,
I almost never pass them up, even if they are slightly used, because they only cost about fifty cents and I love candles!  Girls, never pay full price for these!

One house in particular was hosted by a family that previously owned a Hallmark Store and was liquidating their entire inventory!  I scored big on candles and greeting cards - 12 for $1~  Suh-WEET!

I always love it when I come home with something that was at the top of my "really need" list.  Today it was a wreath for my front door.  Here she is before I had a chance to hang her.
Love the vibrant colors.

On the way back to the car, I got this sweet vintage glass perfume bottle for $1.

And a Bag-O-Sunglasses for $2.

All in all it wasn't a bad morning.  I left the house with $40 and was able to get my coffee, some baked goods at the church and of course give my Amy girl some spending money.  She loves to come with us yardsaling and she's a great little haggler.  Got herself a pair of rollerblades for $4.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'd love to hear about your yard sale adventures this weekend.  I'm also going to start a Y.S. Party.  Let me know what you think!
xoxo,
Kim

What fantastic finds, well done! So often these little treasures just need a little TLC and they become brand new again and can live a second life. Some of the most interesting conversation pieces we own have come from flea markets!

WoW!! You really did good!! That is the kind of sale I like to go to. You really got some great bargains. I almost went to an estate sale today, but decided against it, as I need to keep organizing and cleaning out instead of adding more.
Enjoy your weekend.

I am with you on the church sales but unfortunately our church sales here never price their furniture that low. So, good for you for getting such great stuff at low prices.

I love the round table and the sweet side table.

Hi Kim! Oh, what wonderful things you found! I can't believe those cheap cheap prices you paid for the furniture. I have a little drum table very similar to that one, and your little chair! Oh, and the next table! I'm so proud for you. I'm not jealous one little bit, no I'm not! :)

Holla, indeed! Those prices are amazing on those furniture pieces! I would have snapped those up myself. You got some great deals here. I'm not much of a yard saler myself {I know, blasphemy}, but then again I never went to Goodwill until I started blogging!

Wow! So...why aren't we neighbors??? Dang, you really know how to do it! Talk to me about estate sales...any rules of thumb you recommend? I NEVER find the good stuff for these ridiculous prices!

My goodness....I don't think you can ever do better than you did today! I will definitely take your advice and hit the church sales. I have recently gone to 2 estate sales and the prices are so high it is crazy. I don't think I am going to waste my time on those anymore.

Incredible finds! I love everything! Thanks for sharing.

Quick question: What is the best way to find out where the rummage/yard sales are? The paper? Just curious.
