Weekend Finds & Tips on Cleaning

Before I go any further I have to give props to my dear friend Stacy. I mentioned her before in one of my earlier posts - she is my daughter Amy's art teacher. I have actually known Stacy for a long time as she and her ever-so-talented hubby Anthony, moved in across the street from my childhood home right about the time I was due to get married to DH (ha! I finally got to use "DH" in my post - and now I know what it means!! Thanks MaryEllen!!). Oddly enough, we both got married in the same month. After several years and a few homes, Stacy and I have reconnected and now, she is not only my daughter's art teacher, but a mentor to me as well. Stacy is one of the most talented artists I've ever met. She has a beautiful home filled with treasures she has collected over the years, transforming them into sheer works of art. Over the past few weeks, Stacy has been kind enough to take me under her wing, sharing her secrets with me and showing me the "trash-to-treasure" ropes. I look forward to many more outings with her in the months (years) to come - thrifting, 'tiqueing, yard-saling and God willing - Good Willing! hehe
Here are some of the things I found with the help of Stacy over the weekend. Thanks Stacy!!!!

The bottle was $1.50 - had to pay extra for the Genie!!!

Love this!! It looks perfect in my newly Shabby-Chic'ed bedroom. Although DH couldn't understand why I would buy a picture of people we don't even know!LOL!!!

Actually got this beauty at Ross later that day. Too pretty to pass up.

This book I actually saw last week at a Thrift store and didn't buy it. I was so happy to see that they still had it this week. It is a homemaking book from the 50's and although the book was only fifty cents, the contents and pictures are priceless. I decided to get it just for blogging purposes as I'm sure each and every entry will bring a smile. Speaking of smiles....

Don't we all smile like that when we clean our stoves?????

"A clean stove is easy to keep clean......." HA!
More of these to come!!!!

I don't know...maybe if I dressed better to be around the house I might keep my house cleaner to match me!?! Can't wait to see what you and your friend Stacy do next! God bless you today! Lauralu :)

Kim... thanks for stopping by our blog and for your lovely comments about my remodeled archways and our blog as a whole. Sooo much appreciated!

Looks like you connected with some great finds this weekend! I recently came across these two chairs for $5 a piece that I can't get out of my mind... ugly things that I imagine looking fab when refinished. Maybe I should head back and get them?!

Have a wonderful day...

First of all ,thank you for breaking my curse.ha.I have had 80 followers for wks now.I truly was thinking about asking someone to pretend to follow me just to see if it was broken.ha.You know you earn a follower here and one there. But for wks it hasn't moved.until FINALLY today.THANK YOU.
And.......that book.My mom gave me her book. She was a hair dresser before they had to have licenses',she had a book.eons later,I became a manicurist. She gave me her book.(just because). It was full of all kinds of home remedies etc.they had no chemicals except like hydrogen peroxide.it was full of lemon juice and healthy remedies.
You guessed it.I lost it a"somewhere" along the way.Even if I were to find the exact looking book.It would never be MOM's book.ya know?baaaaaaaaa,.

You found some great treasures Kim! Oh yes, I was really smiling yesterday when I left the lid to the butter on the stove and it melted! That was so much fun trying to peel... or scrape it off after it cooled down. lol! I finally got it off, but I don't think I was smiling! Have a wonderful St. Patty's day. I forgot about it and poor little Chase doesn't have on a stitch of green. I hope the kids don't pinch him to hard! Kristen

Kim,
I am new also, but jumped in to the deep end without a life preserver! This Friday I am going to open my first giveaway contest. The winner will receive a “custom blogger button” that will match their site. Buttons are nice to have because the good ones link back to your site, and get your blog name out to the world! So stop by to enter for a chance to win. Cathy

Those old books are so great....I wish a paint company would just make a whole line of colors from old book covers...don't you agree?
