Reading Terminal Market

I mentioned in my last post that we had beautiful weather over the weekend.  Our family took advantage of it by taking a trip into the city.

Do you ever watch this guy?

He's on the Travel Channel and a while back he visited Philadelphia.  On that show he went to the Reading Terminal Market and ate a world-famous broccoli-rabe pulled pork sandwich from DiNic's.  Ever since that show I've been dying to go there and get one of those sandwiches.

RTM is a food-lover's paradise.  Besides being a marketplace for fresh produce and flowers, it's open-air concept and clean surroundings make it a mecca for lovers of all different kinds of fare.  Here's a peek inside.

Who you callin' crabby???

Of course you can't visit Philadelphia without seeing one of these.

But it wasn't a cheesesteak I was after.

The line for my sandwich wrapped around the entire restaurant.  I was at least 50th in line and my wait was over an hour.  But trust me, it was worth it for this mouth-wateringly delicious piece of pork heaven.
In fact, the man in front of me (we became friends after waiting in line) came all the way from New York just for this sandwich.

You don't think we left without getting dessert do you?
This is the famous Termini Bros. bakery.  We took home some mini-cakes and cookies.

Chocolate anyone??

Not in the mood for food?

All-in-all I'd say it was a great day for the whole family.  AND, it was Cole's first outing!  Here he is with Daddy and big sister Amy.

Well, I hope you enjoyed your tour of the Reading Terminal Market in the City of Brotherly Love.
Have a wonderful week!!

xoxo,
Kim

It looks like a great place to spend a day. I'd like to try a sandwich that you were willing to wait and hour to get while tending to a baby. That must have been some kind of good!

I love Adam! I can never believe how much food that man can consume. And that place looks fantastic! One thing: How dare you NOT take a photo of the sandwich you waited an hour for!!!! I would have wanted to see it to drool over it. And did I spy Baby Bliss with Daddy Bliss in that last photo? If so, he is getting big! (Baby Bliss, NOT Daddy Bliss. LOL!)
Best,
Gloria

My hubby's going to Philly at the end of this month on business--I'll have to tell him to go there as we are total foodies and love trying new things! I'll be jealous if he actually gets a chance to go!

AHHHH, I miss cheese steaks! I live in Denver now,but grew up in Allentown and miss traveling down to philly for the authentic sandwiches...and the art museum. They are a tie for my fave things about Philadelphia!

Kim- Oh I know what it is to wait in line! I spent 4 hours waiting to get my book signed by the Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond. I wouldn't have wanted to wait that long for food, though. An hour would have been plenty. Wait a minute- I just realized that we waited for a dinner table for three hours on Mon. when we were at the furniture market this week. We waited at the bar, though... LOL
Thanks for taking us on this tour with you and for signing up to follow Sullivan and Murphy! ~ Sue
