The Countdown Begins!

Only 9 days left until the arrival of my little man!  That's right, what once seemed like an eternity is now only days away as I am scheduled to have a C-section on January 20th.  I've been keeping busy by nesting around the house.

Today I'm joining Marty's Tabletop Tuesday party at A Stroll Thru Life, showing off the new centerpiece I made for my Dining Room table.

I found this beautiful container at Tuesday Morning.

And by adding some of these faux pears, stolen from the kitchen,

and the faux stems shown here on the buffet,

I created this:

I like how it turned out as a centerpiece.

Not too big, not too small.  Just right.  Although I'm sure I'll be tweaking it as I always do.

What I love most about it is that it blends in with the surroundings in the Dining Room.

The black with gold trim coordinates nicely with the chandelier that hangs above.

And the floral detail on the container blends in with some other elements in the room.

I have a hand-painted chest under the buffet that was given to me by my husband's parents.

The pictures on the adjacent wall have a similar floral motif.

As well as my antique hand-painted tilt-top table in the corner of the room, purchased from an antique store last year.

And lastly, the pillows on my armchairs.

I also changed out the display on my buffet.
It went from this:

To this:

I found this container on the Island of Misfit Decor, aka, my storage room, and added the orbs, also from the Island.

Another look:

Here's a look at the room as a whole.

I'm still in need of a new area rug.  And I can't forget to include a photo of my favorite flea market find ever, my Florentine nesting tables.

I hope you enjoyed this little tour of my nest.  Please visit Marty for more inspiring tabletops!

xoxo,
Kim

Your dining room is so beautiful. Tuesday Morning is one of my favorite places. You just never know what you are going to find -- sometimes nothing, but other times, wow! You cracked me up with the Island of Misfit Decor. I have one of those, too, but it's a closet.

I've been thinking about you every day, knowing that the time is near. We are expecting our 6th grandchild around the 29th, so both "Moms-to-be" have been in my thoughts. Our son & sweet DIL have chosen not to know ahead of time what the gender is, so we are all excited about that. We are hoping for a boy because our one and only grandson really needs some male backup in this sea of girliness; but mostly we just want healthy. It's such an exciting time and I wish you all the best.

Kim, your dining room is just gorgeous. You cracked me up with your reference to the Island of Misfit Decor. I have one of those, but it's a closet.

So excited for you with the little one coming so soon. We are expecting our 6th grandchild about the 29th, so both you and my sweet DIL are in my thoughts each day. Our son & DIL have chosen to be surprised about the gender. Of course, we just want healthy, but another boy would be great. Our one and only grandson really needs backup in an otherwise sea of girliness! Best of wishes on everything.

I must say you have the most wonderfully decorated dining room, Kim. I loved going through all your accents... gorgeous pieces of furniture highlighted with the loveliest touches.. loved how you displayed those teacups next to your buffet... and the tole painted container and your in-laws painted chest is soo beautiful... perfect for this room and so is the gorgeous chandy.. I used to do a lot of tole painting long time ago... a little "me" time during those postpartum "blues". You have a beautiful blog and a very elegant style of decorating.Have a wonderful week!~Poppy
