Yard Sale Saturday

One of South Jersey's most beautiful old Victorian towns, Collingswood, held it's annual town-wide yard sale Saturday with over 180 homes participating.  Not only was it fun to snatch up some great bargains, but I also got to appreciate the history and architecture of these gorgeous old homes.  So it was a win-win!

Here's a sampling of what I came home with.

A large wall medallion for $3, which later fell on my foot when I opened the back door of my car and it came crashing down.  I suffered for that later.

Three gift bags for $1 and two sets of crystal doorknobs from Restoration Hardware for $1 a pair.

Loved this traditional style wall shelf.  I will use it for my staging business.

Old copper planter for a quarter.

Glass honey jar, also a quarter.

I bought these three books from the 1800's from a book dealer who was selling off his inventory.  He sold me all 3 for $1.  I will add them to my antique book collection.  These even had the tissue still in tact!

Brand new flatware service for 4 for only $3.  How can you NOT buy it??

A wire basket for $3.

This beautiful wooden box is very big and very heavy.  It was sold to me for only $1.  I will also use this for my staging.

Stacy and I spotted this antique drum table and decided how high we would go before even getting out of the car.  I hate discussing these things in front of the seller.  We agreed on $10.  Prepared to negotiate, we asked the seller what she was asking for it and she said "five dollars?".  SOLD!!!!  It is a little damaged on the leather top, but will still make a great piece for someone.

I got some new pieces for my patio including this wire plant holder for $1.

I cleaned her up and sprayed her red to match the rest of my outdoor decor.

These clay pots were a quarter a piece.  I bought 2 to go on my new plant holder.

I added the yellow flowers from Home Depot later for a pop of color.

Here's the result.

Kim, you found some great stuff! I love it all, and that table for $5, wow, what a deal.

Your comment about hoarding made me laugh out loud. I know, it would be so easy, but when I go in houses like that, I'm determined not to EVER get that bad about bringing stuff home.

Fantastic buys for you! Love the copper pot and the glass honey jar. The decorative wooden box was another steal. Even though the leather top on the table is damaged, it can still be fixed. I plugged a tear on a vintage leather stool and it looks just fine. Absolutely some great finds for you!

Great Finds!...the "glass honey jar" is actually a wasp catcher...not sure if you knew that...you hang them where you have your wasp problem and they fly up through the hole in the bottom...they can't find their way back out and well..you know the rest...you just tip it upside down and dump them out! :)

You found some great finds. I love the copper pot and the old books. Your honey jar is a wasp catcher. You fill it up with honey, they fly in, but can't get out! We use them a lot in the wine country as the wasps are so pesky. You've inspired me to go garage saling!

The table is so great! You really hit the jackpot.
