Come Sale Away With Me

This morning I got to sleep in..........'til 7:30.  I remember when sleeping in meant getting up at 11:00 a.m.  Okay, I vaguely remember.  That was in college when I would schedule all of my classes in the afternoon and even then I showed up late sometimes.  These days, 7:30 is a rare but welcome treat.  The first yardsale didn't start until 8:00, so I woke up at 7:30 and was out the door by 7:45.  The local vocational school was having their annual flea market and that was our first stop of the day.

My first purchase was this rather large paperweight for $2.

Which quickly found its way onto my Living Room Coffee Table.

Just for a little PIZazz!!

My next purchase was another crystal beauty.  A sweet little Lenox crystal bowl that was still in the box with the certificate of authenticity.  It was sold to me for $1.

How cool is this wooden box?  I don't really think it's that old from the looks of it, but I really like the writing on the front.

Nice, oui?  It was $3.  I'm open to suggestions for where to put it.

On my list for today was some planters for my hanging baskets.  I was lucky to score two for $5 a piece.

My sweet father made this post for our anniversary last year.  My sprinkler was on, explaining the spots on it.  I'm growing Climatis on it and I added the little sunflower container.  I will pick up some coconut liners and hanging baskets at the Home Depot tomorrow after church.

Before moving on, I picked up this cute little tin sleigh for next Christmas.  I think it was $2.

Our next stop was a nearby storage facility that was having a unit sale.  I picked up this plate stand for $3 because it goes with my hutch in the kitchen.

Hard to tell from the pic, but it has a very nice aged patina, like the iron on my hutch.  This is where I put it for now.

Next it was on to a church sale.  Normally I would go the church sale first, but I've been to this one before without much success.  Not this time!  Let's see what I got!

A musical Christmas tin!  I've never seen one like this.  This is the inside of the lid.

Just wind it up and it plays "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas".  Cute for only a buck.

And for those of you who caught my teaser post earlier, here is my Piece de Resistance!

Kim from Savvy Southern Style was the only one who got it right, almost!  She said drop cloth drapery panels.  That's exactly what I've been looking for as part of my next project.  Howeva, when I saw these heavy cotton panels that were exactly the right size, I scooped them up at just $5 for the pair.  It wasn't til I got home and laid them out to take this picture that I saw something that grabbed my attention.

What is that?  Lemme get a closer look.

It's a label, but I still need to get a wee bit closer.....

SHA-ZAAAM!!!!  Cue the Jersey Shore fist pump.

Everything from here on in will be a let big down for you in comparison, but I'm trying to keep this post chronologically correct.

Nothin' left but a few stragglin' yard sales where I picked up a few more goodies before callin it a day.

A Bag-o-Beads for Christmas - $1.

A very large, very fragile wooden bird cage - $2.  I will remove the ivy and then find a new home for it.

A poster of Philadelphia for Mr. Bliss' office,

set of vintage mirrors,

and a Paint By Number kit.
All three items for $5.  I don't recommend buying paint of any kind at a yard sale (who said "duh"!).  I couldn't wait to try my hand at my very new hobby, and the paint was all dried up.

Candles on the other hand, are never a bad idea.  This one was brand new and $3.

Two great decorating books for $1 each which I will read and then decorate a coffee table with!

Vintage Ball jar with galvanized lid for $1.

Butterfly house for $2.

Hanging sweetly, but too high, on my sheppard's hook.  Ya think the butterflies with find it up there?

And lastly, a Claddagh ring for $4.  I'm pretty sure it's 14 k gold, but I'm not positive.  I will give it to Amy as a gift for her Communion ceremony tomorrow.  It's not a First Holy Communion, as we are not Catholic like most people here in New Jersey.  We are Methodist, and Rich and I had the privilege of teaching the celebration of Communion to our church's Sunday School children.  Tomorrow they will each receive Communion in front of the congregation in recognition of their achievement.

Thanks for visiting and staying with me (if you're still here) for this long post.  It was an unusually prosperous day of yardsaling.  I don't usually come home with this many spoils, so I guess you could say I was a little "spoiled" myself today.  I left a couple things out too, dang it!  Well, I'll try to add those pix later.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!
xoxo,
Kim

Hi Kim! Thanks for stopping by Windy Poplars today and leaving a comment. Yes, from looking around your site and reading your profile, I'd say we ARE kindred spirits! :-) I sure enjoyed looking at your yard sale haul from last week. Love blue mason jars, and great score on the PB panels! I love finding stuff like that. I'm a big yardsaler myself when I have a Saturday free. This past week found me at an auction though, and I had a very nice score there if I do say so myself! I'm sure I'll be posting about it soon... Have a lovely Tuesday! ~Kristin from Windy Poplars

You did great on your yard sale adventure! Now could ya send that poster of all the doors to GA? It's wonderful!

Isaac Rubinstein said...

It looks like you have a knack for finding stuff in yard sales. Are you ever sorry about getting something? Not because the price or because it is not nice, but rather because you cannot find the right place for it in your house? You can list all your unwanted items for sale online on www.privategaragesale.com - it's totally free. No fees, no commissions - you keep all the money.

Linda@Coastal Charm said...

Thanks so much for showing off all your awesome finds at my NTT party...love finding PB goodies for pennies!

Blessings,
Linda
