Thrifty Thursday!

This post is way overdue - I acquired most of these things several yard sales ago - AND I am fashionably (or not) late for Leigh's party over at Tales From Bloggeritaville (Hi Leigh!!). Oh well, as they say, better late than never.

Scored a couple of cookbooks for a couple of dollars each. Not bad. They looked like they were never used. Maybe the previous owners are like me and only use books for decoration. Ha! No, I have big plans for these - especially the slow-cooker one, as I have a newfound love for my crockpot. Does anyone else have phases like this??

I've been getting lots of candles lately - brand new - even Yankee, for one dollar!!! Why do people get rid of these?? I love candles!

Love this coffee urn. Someone was selling this in a moving sale. It's an old silver electric coffee percolator. She gave it to me for $2 because it is missing the cord. I figure I can find me one of these somewhere! If not, it looks good just sitting out on my buffet, but I'm not gonna give up. Anyone out there have any ideas???

My youngest daughter Amy has been tagging along recently on my treasure hunts. She loves finding bargains (looks like Dad, but has Mom's DNA). She has been making out like a bandit. It would take all day to post her yardsale finds, but you can just use your imagination here - beach balls, barbies, junk jewelry, board games - you get the picture. But these I thought were worth showing. This tea cart was $2 and well worth it - the coffee pot even makes a noise when you "pour". How cute is that?

This vintage white wicker baby carraige was $5 and a perfect place to store the two dolls I scored for fifty cents each! They even had the tags still on them!!

Amy's room is done in white wicker furniture, so the baby carraige looks right at home.

Well these next two have to be my favorite finds. I was thrilled to find a new men's 100% cashmere scarf for $1 and double-dog thrilled when I saw a women's sage colored cashmere pashmina right next to it! Also $1.

Last, I found this Lia Sophia necklace and quickly scooped it up for $5. As Gloria would say (Happy To Be), I did my little happy dance over this one!!!

So that's it for me. Now I'm gonna look at all the other great finds over at Leigh's party. Hey, don't forget to go check it out!

I am LOVEING your coffee urn. I could so totally collect old percolators. I love vintage functional items like OLD electric Irons (My Dad in Arkansas has started me a collection...he calls and tells me when he has added one to my box, heehe!) Toasters, blenders etc...you get the idea! They just take up too much room. I invision a really cool screened in patio someday with a big shelf all around the top of the wall and I will be able to collect and display all my OLD appliances there! Thanks for sharing your treasures!!

Hey Kim! I have missed you! I am so glad that you joined in. I have been crazy this summer, apologies for not being more frequent.
Girl, you got some awesome deals. I love that carriage! And the percolater-cool. Thinking outside the box, you could use it in a flower arrangement somehow, placing a small cup of water hidden in the perc itself. It is so pretty. Good deals! I love them all!

My FAVORITE of your finds is the white wicker baby carriage. That is a beauty for sure.

My SECOND favorite is your daughter's tea cart. I've never seen a toy cart like that and it is way cute!!!

I've heard of people finding those cords fairly easy. Google the name brand and see if you can find customer service, if it is still in business. Call and see if they know where you can score the cord - they usually know.

You found some fantastic finds. Wow, love the baby carriage. The coffee urn is really pretty. Wonder if you could find a cord on e-bay??

Love the candle too. I've found a few new ones too and I'm amazed that people get rid of them. Oh well, more for us I guess. : )---and at a much better price.

Wow...I should be in bed, but I wanted to stop by and see what you are up to! You have been a busy bee bargain shopping! I love the coffee urn! My first thought for the cord was Ebay. I noticed someone else suggested that too! Check for the maker of the urn and then maybe go from there hunting it down on ebay.
Check back with you soon! Huggy Hugs!

Amazing finds!!!
I will definitely let you know when we go back to Lancaster. My mom has a friend out that way, we could meet up and have a girls shopping spree. Fun! Love Kitchen Kettle Village! My hubby and I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast near there a few years back. I can't seem to remember the name of it but it was so pretty.
Have a great week!

I was surfing through blogland when I came upon your site. I have the same silver percolator that you have. I purchased the cord on e-bay. I ended up buying another percolator in the bidding process, but told the guy to keep it and just mail me the cord. He reduced the postage and did so! It was cheaper than buying the cord alone! Also, be very careful when using this item. The entire things get HOT! I had guests over when I used it for the first time. You cannot use it with modern mugs as they are too tall to fit under the spot and you have to tip the percolater WHILE you are turning the spout and it doesn't work! You need to use the vintage cup and saucers as you need BOTH hands to use the percolator. It is tricky.
