Metamorphosis Monday

This is my first time participating in this wonderful event so I'm very excited. Probably don't even have to mention but I will anyway that it's hosted by our most talented blogger, Susan, at Between Naps on the Porch. I love seeing all of the before and afters, but today on my blog you'll have to settle for just the before!

Here's why. This year marks the big 40 for me and to mark the occasion my wonderful husband will be having this very old, very in need of some work, desk refinished for me. An old friend of the family refinishes furniture and will be undertaking this task for us. I can't wait to see the finished product, but in the meantime will have to settle for accessorizing it in my head and finding just the right spot for it in my living room.

This very special piece of furniture belonged to my Great-Grandmother's brother. Don't you just love things that go back generations in your very own family?? You can't buy THAT on Ebay! LOL!!

Of course I will post the finished product when it's done, but hopefully that won't be too soon, because that will mean I turned 40 ;(

Wow, that looks in good shape as it is, but I look forward to seeing the new and improved version!

Don't worry, 40 isn't bad. I'll be 42 in July. I look younger now than I did in my 30's.

Have fun!

Thanks for stopping by my blog tonight. I have to admit, I actually wondered about what other shoppers in the store thought of me taking photos everywhere. The owner gave me permission, but she was a ways away from where I was snapping. Can't wait to see what you desk looks like finished. Come by anytime!

Hi Kim, I can't believe you already received the frame, that was fast! I'm glad you like it! Can't wait to see it in your kitchen.

The old desk is going to be really pretty refinished. I have an old secretary in the piano room that needs some help! It actually has pieces chipping off that I glued back on.LOL! Maybe I'll have it redone someday. Talk to you soon, Kristen

Oh that desk is a beauty. Gorgeous, now you need to get some scented ink and pretty stationery, sit yourself down with a cup of tea and write letters. I can't imagine how it will look all refinished ~ it's sooo pretty now!

That desk is a beauty, and no, you cannot buy the family attachment and meaning on Ebay! It will look specatular when done, and you will BE spectacular at 40, and beyond!

The best is still to come.

Oh I can't wait to see how this desk turns out! How precious that it is an heirloom- all my old things were bought as my mom didn't want to keep those old things around!!!

40 is a great time of life!! It really is and has been for me- a whole new season of discovering more about me and who God made me to be!! Don't listen to all the gloom and doom- you're just a babe in eternitys eyes!!
