How Do I Fall This Room?

It occurred to me recently that my Family Room is not very conducive to all of the rich hues of Fall.

The bright colors and light walls are, well, Springy.  It's going to be hard to bring the Fall into this room.

Not sure I even want to really.  This room has been so dark and heavy for so many years that I'm kinda likin how light it feels in here now.

On a side note, remember this sweet old wicker table that I just brought home from the auction?

Well it's going to Market next month.  It has lead paint that was chipping and I just couldn't risk having baby put that in his mouth.

I replaced it with another table that I got from the same auction.

Equally as cute, don't ya think?  And a lot safer.

Another change I made in here was the coffee table.  It used to look like this:

Which I decided was a little too distressed for my liking and the Old White was too creamy for this room.  I repainted it with A.S. C. P. Pure White and it looks much better.

I also sawed off the bar going across the bottom and added a basket underneath to hold board games and magazines.  The large glass vase was a flea market find from over the weekend.  I paid $3 for it.  Hubby didn't like the bunch 'o branches in front of the TV though, so it found a new home next to the sofa.

Middle has her sad face on because she was up all night with the stomach bug.  Poor thing.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulicious week!
xoxo,
Kim

Kim, I love your changes! Have you thought about using things like white pumpkins and natural elements for fall? You will still have the light feeling that you love; while adding the touches of fall.

You could change the pillows and add some throws in fallish colors, if you decide you want to. I'm with you - when things are to my liking it's hard to switch for the seasons.

Hope your Middle feels better. That virus is definitely going around here too.

I love your room! My suggestions would be an arrangement of white mums with white pumkins, change out the throw pillows, add a throw and you will be fall styling! Have a great week! Wanda

I think definitely going with the natural elements, whites and golds of fall will let you be seasonal without bringing the lightness down! I can't believe fall is already almost here! Aaaack... where did the summer go????

Poor Middle. I hope she feels better soon!

Hi Kim,

Your room does look fantastic and fresh.

I can't believe fall is coming so soon...it seems we just were talking summer's arrival. I won't miss the heat though.

Seasons don't matter around here, I don't do anything in particular for any season. I never have gotten into that. It's probably because I'm always doing something "new"!! LOL!!

I do decorate for Christmas - usually - at least a bit.

Beautiful room! I agree, white pumpkins would be gorgeous, how about adding some rustic twig pumpkins? You can dress the twig pumpkins up to go with any color and style of decor by adding fall berries to the stem, or tie a pretty ribbon to the stem using the colors in your room, just another thought.

Kim I love your little red table! LOVE the legs on it. I also like the lampshade, too!!!

You could also use peach instead of the bright orange.
I like the white idea and the gold one too.

Good idea about the table--can't risk the lead issue.

Your room is so pretty Kim! I love the rug and pillows. I agree with the other ladies...white pumpkins, greens and natural elements would look beautiful! Even a few of those pretty mercury pumpkins would look great. I'm sure it will turn out beautiful! Kristen

Hi Kim! Just found your blog. You have a beautiful house. I think when I see the photos that the couch and table are the only thing that will need a little extra touch to make them fall. Maybe a quilt or throw in autumn tints throw over the couch and a tablerunner placed over the table will turn them to summer white to fall warmth?

You have the perfect colors to introduce a bit of Fall! Vibrant hues of orange would look beautiful mixed in with your shades of green! Also, your cute, red accent table is rich and can be Fall-ish already! Now, hurry up and get started so that you can show us!

I love the light colors of your room. I have never understood the whole changing rooms out for fall. I only decorate for Christmas. But that is just me. I love summer so I LOVE the light colors. I guess the white pumpkins would really be cute. I love your room and the hues!
