More IS More!

The Island of Misfit Decor has a few less misfits these days.  I've been finding new homes for things all over the place - and I love it.  This is not the norm for me as I usually like to keep things bare for a while after taking down all of the Christmas decor.  Not this year.  It's been so much fun fluffing and tweaking.

I've had the most fun in my Living Room where I decided to create a gallery wall after seeing an inspiration pic in my newest issue of Southern Living.

I don't even have a good before shot of this wall because I couldn't stand to show it with nothing on it.  So I avoided taking a picture of the whole wall and instead just showed a portion of it with one of my favorite antiques.

My living room is my most favorite room in the house.  It's where I blog and in the morning the sun comes pouring through.  I love to sit here and have my coffee while the baby is sleeping.  Hubby thinks it's a little stuffy in here, but to me it feels warm and cozy.  Even more so now that I added some of my favorite artwork to the wall.

What's funny is that most of these pictures have been on the island for years collecting dust.  I never got rid of them because I knew I'd find a home for them someday.

It took about 5 seconds to decide that I was not going to plan this out on the floor.  So with a handful of nails in one hand and a hammer, level and ticky tack in the other, I randomly set about creating a gallery wall.   Of course I had to move things around, which meant even more holes, but, like having 3 children, what's one more?

I'll be adding more over time, and eventually would like to cover the whole wall, but I love how it looks for now.  It makes the room so much cozier without the huge bare wall.

Thanks for visiting and have a fabulicious day.
xoxo,
Kim

Go Kim! I absolutely LOVE this room! The gallery wall is a great solution for an empty wall; and the fact that you had already had these pictures is awesome! Great way to use them.

I had to laugh when I read that you usually have less stuff out after putting the Christmas away...but not this year...I feel the exact same way. I have tried to be a minimalist but just can do it! I love the gallery wall and all the coziness of the "stuff".

I love your gallery wall! It's beautiful. Like you, I have seen the features in Southern Living, but was intimidated by all the prep work involved (laying it out and making a plan...) maybe I will try it with a hammer and a few nails myself :)

Kim, it's great to see you again. I love the gallery wall and I'm needing one myself. I love the antique chest and the clock on it, too. We have a similar china cabinet that is very old. I didn't like it until my friends started drooling over it. Now, I'm enjoying having it. Your room is outstanding. Thanks for sharing it. Helen

The gallery wall looks awesome, Kim! The entire room looks truly warm, cozy & very inviting.

Happy belated b-day to your little guy! The pics in your previous post were so adorable. Our youngest "Grand" will be "1" on the 30th. She & I are sharing a party, mine is 2/3 -- and I'm way older than "1" ....lol!

Kim, I love your gallery wall! I have been reading the book Creative Walls this week, and the book had several nice examples of gallery walls. I am so envious because we have very little wall space in our home. It is an open concept floor plan, and we have tons of floor to ceiling Georgian-style windows.

Anyway, I think you did a fantastic job choosing and placing the elements of your gallery wall. Awesome!

Kim,
Thanks for checking out my bathroom! Wow...your house is beautiful. I can't wait to check out more of your blog. I am your newest follower. Seeing those pictures of you in the hospital with your son makes me want a baby! LOL but I have four and that is plenty!

Be sure to enter my giveaway if you'd like...the drawing is on Sunday.

Thanks again!

I/m with you. I am not a floor planner either, just an "eyeballer."

The gallery wall looks great.

The room is absolutely gorgeous! It's nice you can work at your desk, in such a beautiful space.
I love how you put all the things you love up on the wall. You should surround yourself with things you love!
I like you, was reluctant to put Christmas away! But at least you have some newly decorated areas to enjoy! Everything looks so beautiful!
Blessings!
