Kitchen Chair Transformation!

Hope you all enjoyed a nice weekend.   Mine started out with a visit to the ER and an overnight stay for kidney stones.  I tell ya I've never experienced a pain quite like that before and God willing, never will. If you've had them you know what I'm talking about.  Lucky for me I have the most wonderful husband who never left my side and took care of me all weekend.  Thank you sweetie!

Of course the doctors wanted to make sure the baby was okay, so they ordered an ultrasound to look at my kidneys and a complete check of the baby.  They discovered that I'm farther along than we thought and pushed my due date up almost 2 weeks, and the baby is doing great.

I think he's sucking his finger!  Awww!

Okay, moving on to the real reason you are here.  With a lot of help from Mr. Bliss I tackled a project that I've been putting off for months! (Hence why I'm joining Procrastination Tuesday!).  Together, we transformed my kitchen chairs from blah:

 to FAB!

Using 2 yards of fabric I scored at the flea market for $5.

I simply took off the old fabric using a flathead screwdriver to remove all the staples and left the old padding in place.  Then Mr. Bliss used his electric staple gun to add the new fabric.  Easy peasy!

Hey, did I mention that today is my birthday?  So we celebrated last night with our parents here at the house for cake and ice cream.  I threw in a little surprise for them.........

Everybody close your eyes.

Okay, now OPEN!

That's my mom in the front left and my dad in the back right - they currently have 5 granddaughters!

My sweet MIL.

Tears of happiness.

It was a great ending to a crazy weekend!

For this extra-special post, I'm linking up to the following parties.

Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch

Transform Tuesday at the Pumpkin Patch

Now that even brought a small tear of joy to my eyes too. How very sweet to share the news that way with your parents! I am a huge fan of plaid, I just love your new seat cushions. They look marvelous! I am sorry to hear about the kidney stones. I've never had one but have heard the horror stories. So glad to hear you and the baby are doing well. Happy Birthday girlfriend! Take care!

A boy!!! Yippeeeeee!!!!! I am so excited for you! You would never guess your dad is excited with the fist pump going on!!! :-) What perfect way to share the news. Happy Birthday to you!!! BTW, the chairs look awesome!

Yay, it's a boy!! How exciting. So sorry about the kidney stones especially while being pregnant. I had one bout with a kidney stone many years ago and never want to go through that pain again. I was sick for a week. The severe pain was gone after I went to the hospital and was put on meds, but until that sucker passed I was sick on and off. I told everyone that pain was much worse than child birth! The chairs look soooo good. Love that fabric. Have a super week and no more kidney stones.

I hope you are feeling much better and continue to do so. I love the cake! What a wonderful way to share your news :o)

Wow so much going on! Happy Birthday!! Wonderful news about being a boy and I love the photos of your family finding out like that. How sweet and they all look so happy! I also love the redo on the chairs. That plaid is so perfect! Have a great day!

It's rather ironic that you posted this about re-covering your kitchen chairs as I am about to do this for the first time myself. So far I have purchased a long phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the cushions from the frame of the chair, however now I get to pick out the fabric! It was overwhelming to browse online! I'm so exciting though. Your chairs look awesome. I hope mine come out as great. I will post a blog/pics when I get it finished. :-) Congrats on the baby boy!!!

Yay for everyone.

It's a Boy! - That was fun.

Been there and done that with the kidney stones. All of the horror stories are true. Believe me, having the baby is gonna be a breeze compared to your kidney stone attack. I am so happy that both you and the baby are fine. And there is nothing any greater that a wonderful baby son, unless it is a wonderful grandson.

Love the fabric!

Kidney stones stink! My sister in law had those while pregnant and it was nasty. Hope it gets better soon.

Yay for boys!! I am pregnant with my third boy and they are literally a barrel of monkeys every day. Congrats!

Rebecca Nelson said...

Yeah for boys! My daddy deeply, dearly loved his mother and told me when my son was born this: "A son will be around when all others have left for they develop a keen sense of responsibility towards their mothers...". I found this to be true. Our son-shine is now 28 and is VERY protective of me AND his Dad! A blessing for sure...

Now...that is NOT to say our girl isn't here for us as well. She is...but it is often expected from daughters and more of the norm.

In the end my children have grown up to bless us...that early childhood training is paying us back 100 fold.

Congrats to you my preggo friend~

Love the boy sucking his finger, so awesome we get the see that from the outside.
