Craig's List Weekly Series #8

For those of you who are new to this series, for the last several weeks I've been sharing Craig's List finds from my area, South Jersey/Philadelphia.  Even if you don't live in this area, and most of you don't, I thought it would be fun to show you some interesting and unique pieces and what they are worth.  If you are in the market for rare antiques or just trying to gain a knowledge for what pieces are worth, I strongly suggest you visit Craig's List and scour the antique category.

Most sellers will try to give as much information about a piece as possible.  So as a regular visitor to CL, I've gained a knowledge of terminology and time-period, as well as an understanding of which pieces are rare as opposed to those that are a dime a dozen.  For this series, I'm showing you the ones I think are either rare, very interesting, or an extremely good value.

Please note:  Unless otherwise stated, I did NOT purchase any of these items.

I found lots of great pieces this week so let's get right to it, shall we?

First off is this retro cabinet for $50.  A little high, but I love the look of it and it appears to be in great condition.

More retro goodness - this 60's yellow dining set for $150.

Rounding out the retro category is this set of three teal nesting tables.

Weird how the colors look totally different in those pictures.

Gorgeous Tole chandelier for $50.....yeah, I was tempted on this one.

It's worth mentioning that it pays to comparison shop - even on Craig's List.  This wicker set for $150 was directly under a similar set listed for $500.  Sellers should also do their homework before listing.  This set included all six pieces shown.

Love this coffee table for only $70.

Another great coffee table, this one a solid cherry drop leaf table for $40.  Can't beat that people.

Or how about this pink/white marble top Victorian coffee table?  Oops, I forgot to write down the price, but it must have been good for me to save this.

I loved this antique bathroom cabinet for it's uniqueness, but not the price - $100.

Beautiful and chippy.  The drawer opens up to store toiletries and there is a bar on the side to hold hand towels.

I love anything that is unique.  Including this antique Anglo-Indian chair made of exotic wood listed for $75, a decent price in my opinion.  But of course I would offer less to start off.

This small wine table is a steal at $15.

Perfect condition and beautiful green leather top.

The wow factor is off the charts on this vintage giraffe throw rug listed at $100.

I thought this antique zither was an interesting item.  Could be yours for $40.

If you have been following this series,  you know that I like to end each installment with a creepy category.
This week did not disappoint.

The listing reads "Creepy Dolls & Doll Parts".

"Nightmarish dolls, make me an offer that will make their porcelain faces crack a smile.  They've been laying around for a while, not moving."

Interesting finds....love the retro nesting tables and the bathroom chippy cabinet, but you're right, a little pricey. Thanks for sharing. Wonder how these prices compare to C.L. here in the northwest??

Haha - creepy is an understatement! You definitely found some amazing pieces on Craigslist. I rarely have the ambition to search each listing, but it's usually pretty entertaining!
