Do You Believe In Signs?

Alot of things can happen in a year.  To most people, twelve months seems like a long time.  But at my age, a year feels like a month.  I started blogging a year ago, and in that short span it has become a very influential part of my life.  I spend countless hours at my desk restructuring my blog and getting it just right only to tweak it a bit more - adding a gadget here, removing a blinkie there.  I visit your blogs, and I "ooh" and "aah" at your beautiful homes and wonderful stories.  I love seeing the names of your blogs and the meaning behind them.  It got me to thinking, did I choose my blog name too quickly?  Does it have any true meaning to me?

I am a very sentimental person.  I form strong attachments to things and those things have meaning to me.  I have a tattoo on my ankle.  It's a turtle.  I chose a turtle because that was what my dad has called me since I was a little girl, his turtle.  "The turtle always wins the race" he would say.  Turtle Power has become my mantra.  Maybe I should have chosen that as my blog title.  But my blog is about home decor, so that wouldn't work. I guess I could change the name of my blog, but that would cause alot of confusion for my followers, and I really don't feel like starting over.

So you see, this has been eating away at me recently.   Then last week, I got a sign.  A sign that I did, in fact, choose exactly the right name for my blog.  A sign that I'm exactly where I need to be at this point in my life.  A sign that My Domestic Bliss is the story of my life with 2 kids, a dog, a house, a great husband and lots and lots of blissful memories.

So what was the sign you ask?

It was just that.  A sign.  I found it at Big Lots.  I wasn't even looking for it. So I guess it found me.
And I will keep it next to me from now on whenever I blog as a constant reminder that I'm exactly where I need to be.

I love the turtle idea.

Sometimes it just takes the right 'sign' to see that you are doing it right and are exactly where you are supposed to be. I cherish those signs and the bliss they bring:)

Sounds like things are as they should be, it's my first time reading your blog (by way of Chic ChicK) but may I suggest you occasionally apply some "Turtle Power" to your posts. That way you can have the best of both worlds :0)

Sounds like we have some common interests, can't wait to take a peek around

Hi Kim
I love that you are called a special name by your dad...that is so sweet and something you'll always treasure.

See I would have trouble thinking of what exactly kind of tatoo would I want while you had no problem with that name!

I love the sign you bought. It was perfect and I like the word bliss so I think you did good.

I had the same thing with the name of my blog. I'm not so sure how I came upon it ... and I often think I should have chosen something else. But I like cranberries and I love the colour red...that was part of it.

have a great day...enjoy.

Ohhh yes...I DO BELIEVE IN SIGNS! Of course, I realize that this is subject can get very "deep"...but I do believe that when we are on the right path...there will be signs to verify and assure us!!! Kim, I love your blog name..."My Domestic Bliss"! I wished I would have thought of if...hehe! It describes my life perfectly! I am sooo perfectly content...and full of bliss just getting to be home and enjoy my home!!! I worked for so many years and when I retired (early) a couple of years ago...I was so excited to be able to just stay at home and play house! Hehe!

I love your new "BLISS" sign...how perfect is that!!! You wear it well, my friend!!! Well Darlin', I just had to come over and leave you a note...thanking you again...for the beautiful tassel gift!!! I received it in the mail yesterday...wished you could have heard all the squealing going on at my place!!! Hehe! Kristen did a fabulous job creating this beautiful toile bird tassel!!! I have already placed it on my china cabinet door in my dining room! The beautiful tassel has red, green, and gold...the exact colors of the living area of my home! Ohhh...I am sooo enjoying this pretty tassel! Thank you again, Sweetie!!!

Holy crimany...do I believe in signs???????? You may not believe this, but I am in the process of changing the name of my blog to one that is a little less generic, and one that I considered was "Domestic Bliss" isn't that funny???? And here you are...you showed up on my blog today from SITS and I believe it's not a coincidence! =) So cool. I think the name TOTALLY suits you and your blog. I won't "steal" it. Promise! =)
