Lookie What I Found!!!

Hello to all of my wonderful, dear blog friends! Thanks for sticking with me as I've been so sporadic with my posts lately. The main reason is my computer - I need a new one!!! We've been in our home for 10 years now, bought it new, and everything seems to be in need of repair. The basement flooded (UGH!), garage door opener broke, screen door - gone, hot tub needs a new something-or-other, bathrooms need new floors - you get the picture. Now I know what you're all thinking - poor girl, her hot tub doesn't work! I know this sounds frivolous, but I was just recently diagnosed with what may be Rhuematoid Arthritis and my aching joints would just kill to get in that hot tub these days! The rest is just little stuff, but it all adds up to one big headache and a lot of money for repairs and such. SO, my point is (yes there is a point in here somewhere) that the computer is not too high on the list. My sweet husband said I can use his laptop anytime I want, but to be honest with ya, I hate the thought of it. You probably think I'm crazy, but I just can't get used to moving my finger around that small thingie at the bottom and then trying to scroll up and down, just don't have the patience.

Before you exit this post, and believe me, I don't blame you for being tempted, I have something to show you. Yes girls, another curbside rescue. This one is a beauty in need of a little TLC, but when we came across it on our latest treasure hunt, I did my Happy Dance as Gloria would say! All drawers and pieces were accounted for, just a coupla pieces connecting the top drawers. Now, here's where I need your help Ladies.......what.is.this?

I have no idea. I've spent hours on the puter and looking through my antique books and the closest I've seen is an antique wine cabinet, only this thing doesn't have any doors, just drawers. Just give me a holla if ya have a clue!

Now, I'l be spending the better part of the day here tending to this whatdoyacallit. Some Murphy's Oil soap and a delicate layer of Old English and then I'll post some better pictures.
For now, enjoy the rest of your week!

UPDATE:: Kay, I'm back and i've been workin on watchamacallit for about an hour and a half. So far so good. Whatday think??

Can't believe this was a castoff! I can't wait to see it all cleaned up. It looks just like some kind of sideboard to me. I liked Dan too. Thought his nursery was fabulous. I just think Antonio brings something different to the table. Plus, like you, I loved his sincerity and genuine concern for his clients. I am sure Dan will have an amazing career. He is only 26! Thanks for stopping by!

What an amazing piece of furniture! I can't wait to see the transformation.

You know what, my hubby and I were just talking on Sunday...we've lived in our house 9 years...we bought it new. We need a new fence and new kitchen appliances. We've already replaced the AC system. Sheesh! It's always something isn't it?

I'm sorry your are having health problems. Take care of yourself. Maybe that hot tub should be first on your list.

Hey there, girlie!
I have no idea what that treasure is, but holy cow did you score big on that one!!! Unbelievable that it was a cast off! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Just a little note, if you ever feel so inclined to use the laptop.
I only blog on my laptop and I can't stand the little cursor pad either. I bought a portable mouse. It works via batteries and a small usb plug. It's AWESOME!!! It works great, and the batteries really last a long time. Mine was like $15
Super cheap, and totally worth the lack of headache.

Talk to ya' soon. Get busy, 'cause I wanna see the reveal. K?! ;)

Sorry I can't give you any info about the cabinet but it's gorgeous! I can just imagine how pretty it will be after it is cleaned. Great find! Sorry about all the accumulating problems, when it rains it pours, doesn't it? But, there is a brighter side. Once it's down, the only direction it can go is up so hang in there....Christine

Don't know anything about the cabinet, but it is very pretty. Free is good! Great find! Know exactly what you mean about everthing needing repairs at the same time.

Wow, what a beautiful piece. I can't believe someone would put that out on the curb!!

When I got my laptop 2 years ago I insisted on having a mouse. There is a spot in the back of the computer where you plug it in. When you use the laptop you could use a mouse and when your husband is ready to use it again just unplug it.

That's a beautiful piece! What were those people thinking?! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Be a sweetie,

Hiu Miss-

I think it is a church piece of some kind. That's my vote.

You take care of yourself- even if your hot tub is your bath tub (that's where mine is).

Gorgeous piece! You really spiffed it up. Not sure what it is but I'm thinking 1930's? Know what you mean about some things taking priority too. Our house is 15 years old and it seems like everything goes at once! Take care, Pam

Well, I don't know what it is, but it's gorgeous, girl! Maybe a bar??? What are you going to do with it? I know if I had it in my hands it would be painted white before morning! It's my claim to fame - paint everything, and usually white. Enjoy your beauty, whatever you do with it. Thanks so much for your visit today at Mimi's Garden, Kim. I'm gonna have to add you to my favorites list - you have some very lovely things! And by the way, I was sorry to read about your RA diagnosed. I have an autoimmune disease so I can sympathize. I'm using my laptop right now and I now what you mean about the finger pad vs. mouse. I've decided to buy a wireless mouse for my laptop. Can't teach an old dog new tricks! Have a beautiful week.

Hi Kim! I know what you mean about the mouse, when I got a laptop for work I insisted on a USB port mouse because I hate that red nub thing. What a PITA!

Your whatchmacallit thingy is cool, it has great details and loads of character. I've never seen anything like it though. Have fun with it!

OH girl! You know how I love to paint things...but I wouldn't touch that with any paint! It is gorgeous just like it is. You did a fabulous job cleaning it up! Can't believe someone would throw that out????

BTW-I am no good on a laptop either.

Gotta run...see you soon, soul sister.

I don't know what it is either. Looks like maybe a sideboard. Is there felt inside any of the drawers like you would use to store silverware? It is going to be a challenge to paint if your going to do that with all those curves and trim.

Another gorgeous find. How do you do it? I never find anything worth taking on the curb. I have no idea what it is either, but some of your other readers had some good ideas. Where did you end up putting it and to what use?
