This Leads To That Leads To...

I have all of the signs of project overload - aching muscles, sore hands, paint stains on my clothes and a husband who runs the other way as soon as he hears the words, "Hey Hon, what if we....."

This last project has left ME wanting to run the other way.  I'm taking a break.  I have a show coming up in a month and will need to rest up if I'm going to be ready.

Open shelves - they're all the rage.  I'm not usually one to jump on a bandwagon, or any wagon for that matter, but I gotta admit, this one had me at hello.  I love, love, love the look of open shelves.  My kitchen is small by most standards, and for the life of me, I'll never understand why any builder would leave a huge wall with no cabinets.  No nothing for that matter - just a big empty wall.  I've always had something there like a bakers rack or hutch, but it just seemed like the perfect space to try open shelves.

Here's what the wall looked like before, with the hutch.

And that's where the this led to the that.  We had to move the above hutch into the Dining Room to make room for the open shelves.

But I'm sooooooooo glad we did.  And so happy that I went for it.  It looks like it was always meant to be this way.

The antique mixing bowls and the canvas were both yardsale bargains from over the weekend.

I think the kitchen looks much larger now.

I picked up this aqua blue cannister set from the flea market last weekend for only $5.  I almost brought them to the store to sell, but decided to keep them and I'm so glad I did.  This kitchen needs some color!

The sink skirt was made for me by my sweet and talented dear friend Christina, who continues to spoil me!  I just love it!  She is extremely talented at the sewing machine and you can check out her fun wares by clicking on her button on my sidebar, Emily Anne's Kloset.

I'll leave you with a sneak peak of the "that"...

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulicious day!
xoxo,
Kim

I love it, Kim! You are right, the open shelves and the beautiful buffet below look like a "meant-to-be" in that spot. Great job!

Kim I am so there with you about the open shelves and this leading to that. But Lady you are miles ahead of me in design. This is gorgeous! I love your shelve! They look so perfect there above your sideboard and are decorated beautifully. I also love your pretty bakers rack in your dining room too. Great job on both. Just beautiful!

I love it, Kim! It looks like a wonderful spot and I love how the buffet holds stuff on its shelves and behind closed doors. The shelves look great. I'll bet you had a good time accessorizing those!

Yes, project overload. I am feeling that myself. I know there is too much when there is a little bit of everything hanging out in each room {fabric in the sunroom for one}.

I'm doing the same thing in my kitchen! I have those same shelves, white ironstone, and a white buffet with a dark top! So needless to say--I love yours! I really need to get it finished so I can share it on my blog!
