Stop The Insanity!!!

When doctors performed my c-section in January, in addition to taking out my baby, they also removed some vital brain cells (I know this makes no sense anatomically, just go with me).

What made me decide to renovate my home at exactly the same time I brought home a brand new baby?  Just ask the IRS.  It's tax-return time and in my house that translates to "Git 'er Done".

Kitchen floors are done and I am ever-so-pleased with the results.  You can see the before HERE.

I love, love, love these porcelain tiles.  They are completely low-maintenance!  I chose a grout that blends in with the tile.  I didn't want too light and didn't want dark either.  Renovations are so much easier when you know exactly what you want, don'tcha think?

I chose a 20x20 size and as we all know, size matters ;)

I'm happy to say that after killing myself for 2 days I finally have my kitchen put back together and I'm taking the day off.

Here's a look around.

A new Roo-ey from Ross.

Splashes of color on my hutch.  The flower arrangement came from Bed, Bath & Beyond, and of course I added stems to it myself.

Little Roo-ey tassel from Cracker Barrell.

Love the pea green color on my counter.

My master bath and hall bath are being renovated as we speak and I will share the before/after photos in the next week or so.

Thanks for stopping by!

Your new tile floor looks great! The color is going to be perfect for not showing dirt. I can't wait to see your other renovation photos.

Actually, it's better that you're doing all this right now while the little guy is still stationary. I can tell you, as the mom of 3 boys, they touch EVERYTHING!!! If it's within reach it's treated as a baseball. I love your floors! My dad and stepmom have tile like this in their house, it's so nice!

BEAUTIFUL floors, Kim! I love them! The tile you chose is awesome ... love the neutral color. It was meant to be in your kitchen! Love all of your other accessories! I have those SAME canisters (got mine at Wally), and I even filled one with the same green peas! I, too, love having a splash of green in there. Please post more pics of your precious baby boy! Hugs, Becca

Wow Kim!!! Those look fabulous! It really opens up your kitchen and is so light and bright! You are totally one brave woman doing all of this with a newborn in the house but as someone said above, at least he isn't crawling yet! :-)

Oh girl I have been away from blog land for a while, and didn't even know that beautiful baby was here. Congratulations!!! Your kitchen looks great (even if they removed some vital body parts or cells while in the hospital). You did a great job. Can't wait to see the rest. I have got to snoop around and see if you have any baby pics posted on here.

You may think you have lost some brain cells to tackle this now, but your choices are still excellent so they obviously didn't take out the important ones! LOL! I love everything you've done so far! It looks wonderful! Your bakers rake looks great too! I love the arrangement of the dishes on there. Can't wait to see the bathroom! Go Mama! :))

Please don't take this as being rude, I really don't mean for it to. Why don't you try taking all of the items from the top of your hutch and move them to the bottom and the bottom ones to the top. You could add some apples to the big bowl when you bring it down for color. The arrangement is so pretty and it would look great if it was higher more like eye level. The rooster is brown and so is the wood it is on, it will show up better on top. If you have a little book or something you can raise him up on and then put a little greenery at his base he will show up better. Your taller items are on the bottom and you need them on the top. Again, I am sure you played with this a bunch, it is only a suggestion.

Gorgeous! It's good to know I'm not the only one who loses brain cells with the birth of each of my children.

It looks wonderful! the large tiles are so great...I say the less grout the better! Your home is beautiful. Sometimes we work better when we have more on our plate than when we have nothing on our plate, don't you think? You probably never have nothing on your plate with 3 kids...I know! lol

Have a great weekend.

It's ok!
When I moved to Kansas 13 years ago, not only did we move me over here, we also planned our wedding
AND Ken thought we could paint the WHOLE outside of the house in 2 weeks. NOT!!! :)

I really like the new look & totally understand the practicality of tile over wood. Do I think you're just a wee bit crazy to be doing this with a brand new baby in the house? Well, maybe just a tad, but did the same kind of wacky things when our kiddoes were little. Hey, selling a home that we just finished remodeling to be exactly what we wanted for our retirement years & buying another that will require some remodeling is probably pretty wackadoodle to most of our friends! I guess maybe you & I are kindred spirits.

Your new floors look beautiful!! My floors are very similar to yours and they really don't show dirt. You're right though...wood shows every piece of grass! I am constantly sweeping in the hall and living room. Great choice for your kitchen!!!

I do love those tiles! If I had my way the entire house here would be tiled. Easier to clean. And the wider tiles means less grout cleaning!

Hi Kim, I love the tile you chose and it really lightened up your kitchen. I have hardwoods floors in my kitchen so I understand you wanting to replace them with tile. They are difficult to keep clean and every little thing knicks or scratches them. Thanks for joining my party.

The tiles are just beautiful! Great color that will go with everything. The grout color looks great too! Just make sure it is sealed so you won't have to keep scrubbing it all the time. I am currently in the process of cleaning my kitchen grout...not fun.

Oh my gosh, Kim....I love your kitchen! I think we have the same plaid fabric on our kitchen chairs. I just recovered them in January. My fabric is called Burgess Plaid in Antique Red....do you know the name of yours?
