Sacrificing in the Name of HD

Have you ever had to make a decorating sacrifice in favor of technology?  My man decided to upgrade to high definition with Direct TV and in doing so, I had to make a decorating sacrifice.  It's okay though, because now we can use the remote from anyplace in the room and not just from the sofa on an angle standing upside down.  Yeah, that was my fault.  What can I say?  The receiver just didn't look as appealing as the matching baskets peaking through the glass doors of my entertainment center!

Gotta have some green somewhere.

The fern looks very happy in its new location! Sometimes sacrifices need to be made, and I'm sure you will enjoy being able to change the channel wherever you are....too funny!

Kim, I hate to say it, but once you go HD, you will never go back and you will love that little box! Maybe you could paint it and do a faux finish to make it look like a little treasure box!!! :-)

Hi Kim,
I'm so happy you stopped by and introduced yourself! I'm very happy to 'meet' you too! I love your decorating style. Love your bedroom; especially the headboard! Your fern looks nice hanging on the wall too.
My hubby insisted on HD a year ago. At first I really couldn't tell the difference but now I can.
I would love to have a baby around the house again! I so enjoyed those years of being a stay at home mom! I will have to come back and peruse your blog further. I'm your newest follower! Enjoy your day.

Blessings,
Sandi

Hello, Kim!
Thanks so much for your visit.
I love your home!
I told hubby that we do not get a new TV until the one we have which is only a few years old dies. AND when we do get one, it has to fit in the entertainment center that we already have since it took me several years to find one that I liked and fit in my Living Room. My youngest son and his girl friend just got a 60 inch TV for their apartment. My hubby got to watch a hockey game there on it and is in love with that TV!!! LOL!!

Hugs,
Debbie

Your post title caught my attention right away today! I'm a t.v. hider, I've always put them in armoires so they could be hidden away. But we got a big HD t.v. for Christmas so I totally had to re-decorate around it. I must admit, I love it though! Your gorgeous room still looks as lovely with the box on top...and the little prince's swing:)

Looks great to me - I really like the entertainment center. I still have one of those heavy dinosaur tv's, sitting on an antique table. Won't make a change til it kicks the bucket. Right now it is still going strong and a great picture. :D

I LOVE your decorating style! I'm doing some redeco as well but have only gotten through one room so far. But sister - you had me at the "I'm 41 and found out I was pregnant." Same thing happened to me!

You said you wanted to do something diff. w/ your lampshades in the master . . . my friend, Miranda did a "bustle" lampshade on hers and they were so soft and lovely! Here's her link if you're interested!

Kim, LOL Your tv center reminds me of ours...we have the same tv but the control box is to the side.
Congratulations on the new baby. What a blessing children and grandchildren are, but wouldn't you think baby furnishings manufacturers could make baby swings, etc. in colors that would coordinate with living room decor? :) Thanks for stopping by to say "hi" and following. I'm now following your blog, too. Yay!

The fern looks great in its new home! You also did a great job decorating around the new electronic equipment. It's funny, because I used a fern in my post today too!
By the way, if that's what your room looks like with the baby stuff out, you are much neater than I was at that stage!

What are you talking about? Your room still looks fantastic! I had to look a few times to see what exactly you were talking about..the box on the top of the ET center. Ours is sitting under our TV. I really didn't want it there but it's where it has to be and does sorta blend in the way yours does too! The baby stuff is well, Oh, just wonderful! Honestly! Your home is still just so pretty! :))

Oh your livingroom is gorgeous. I love the color, and I think the top of the entertainment center looks fabulous. I know, I like to use ferns also, but you gotta do what you've gotta do. Placing the fern in the wall pocket is a super idea. Your home is stunning. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty

Looks good, Kim. I think entertainment centers have gone the way of recliners -- it's all a man-thing. So what do we women-folk do about it? We DECORATE the heck out of it!
