Master Reveal

Amidst all of the renovations going on here at the House of Bliss, I was able to redo my master bedroom.  I just made some minor changes, but they were enough that even my man noticed, which is saying something.  I could have a moosehead mounted over the fireplace and he wouldn't notice it for a good 6 months.

Here is the before with the same down comforter, but different bedskirt and shams.

I designed the headboard and my wonderful man brought it to life.  It's mounted onto the wall.
At one point I changed the decor on the headboard and replaced the ceiling fan with my Craig's List chandy which you can read about here.

A much softer look.

And here is what it looks like now with the new Pottery Barn bedding.

This is the PB Essential Quilt, Shams & Bedskirt in Sandlewood.  After purchasing and returning 2 PB printed duvets, I opted for a softer solid color quilt over the white down comforter.  I decided on this because I wanted to master to coordinate with the adjoining sitting room.

A coordinating monogrammed pillow.

Love the muslin look of this bedskirt.

We also added height by placing the frame on risers I bought at Walmart.  This shortened the look of the headboard which was needed as I thought it looked too long before.  It also makes the bedskirt the right length.

I'm on the hunt for a few more throw pillows with a splash of color. I'm also going to switch out the bedside lamps for something a little more contemporary.  I'm thinking glass base with white drum shades.

The white sheer panels are from Burlington Coat Factory a couple of years ago.  Can you tell I love white??

Wall decor over the headboard is from Hobby Lobby.

I also changed up my dresser and mirror.
Here is the before - very cottagey, which I love.

And the after.

I didn't like the matchy-matchy look of the previous mirror.  This new one is from Ross and has a lot of carved detail.

I just love it.  I may decide to hang it horizontally at some point, but for now it just leans vertically.  I'm trying to save my walls the grief of exposed unwanted holes.

From this view you can see into the sitting room.

The slipper chair and antique hutch are both Craig's List finds.

I got the chair for $35.  The pillows came from a favorite store of mine in a local Amish Market.

The China Hutch hubby and I painted.  You can read about that here.

I added plates above from Walmart and the prints I bought years ago from Michael's.  They were moved here from the Master.

A peek inside:

Where I read and watch TV.

These pillows also came from the same fabric store and the blanket was made by a blind friend of my Nana's.

This is another nook in the Master.

I replaced the dated pillows on this chair with a more contemporary one from Tuesday Morning.  I like it much better.

The French Country chair is another Craig's List find for $15 and the side table was purchased at a church flea market last year for $4 (I'm not kidding).

And my most favorite spot of all in the new master bedroom.....

Thanks for visiting today and have a wonderful week!

Amazing job! I love the before pictures, but the after picture was even better!

I love the way you mixed the flowery cottage prints in the sitting room. Is there a trick to that?

Oh my goodness, I am in LOVE with this room. I love all three of the looks, but that pottery barn bedding is to die for! :-) Our master is painted the same color (another thing we have in common) but we have dark furniture in there now, this would certainly brighten things up. I must bookmark this and get busy buttering the hubby up! :-) Loving your blog, new follower. Thanks for your lovely comments at blissimagesandbeyond.

Hi Kim! I truly thought everything was so pretty before, but you certainly added some "WOW" factors in there. I'm really liking the new look for the bed. Isn't it amazing how just a few simple tweaks here and there can have such a major impact? Your hubby did a beautiful job on that headboard. I can certainly understand why that beautiful bassinet is your favorite thing in the room since it holds that sweet little bundle.
