I cry "UNCLE"!

I hate to do it, I really do, but I give up.  I.just.can't.take.it.anymore.  All my hard work, all the money spent on flowers and hanging baskets, all the watering, all the weeding, all for nothing.  I didn't even get to enjoy it.  Any of it.  I had dreams of sitting outside each evening, watching the kids catch lightening bugs and playing catch with the dog, roasting smores in the new chiminea, enjoying the fruits of my labor, cocktail in hand.  That last one went out the window about three weeks ago anyway with news of my impending belly.  But as for the rest, it is now nearing the end of July and I haven't sat out there once!  Not once!  At seven o'clock in the evening it still feels like high noon.  I watch the news and see the weather and it pretty much looks the same across the country.  So we are in the same boat.  I hate this boat - get me out!!

There is one thing that has brought me some pleasure outdoors.  I seem to have attracted lots of birds this year.  Maybe it's the pregnancy thing.  Maybe the mommy birds feel safe having their babies around me, like I can relate to them.  Or it could just be the fact that I have quite a few birdhouses in my yard.  Yeah.  That one.

Let's take a peek on the front porch.  Now you must be quiet, their mommy does not like it when her babies are disturbed.  She puts on quite a fuss.

Let's get a little bit closer.

Can you see them in there???

How bout now?

Yep, they look hungry to me.

I can relate guys.  I feel hungry all the time too.

Are you stuck indoors?  What's bringing you pleasure during these dog days of Summer??  Will there be a sudden baby boom next Spring???  I'm not talking about birds!

Enjoy your "hump" day!
xoxo,
Kim

The babies are so cute! It is blazing hot here too. I do try to go out some everyday. Need the sunshine to make me smile. :)

Kim! I somehow missed that you are having a baby! Congrats!!

It is VERY hot and humid. I wish I could sit outside and have dinner, but we have no shade. Hopefully it will cool down soon.
Hugs,
Penny

Kim,
Your birdies are so cute in their little bird house!
It's been hot here, too, but I still get outside even if it's just for a few minutes. The mosquitoes bother me more than the heat and humidity. I especially love going outside on the porch during a rainstorm when the temp drops a few degrees!

Cute Kim! We have had a baby bird boom this year in our yard as well. Nobody is pregnant around here though. LOL! *Smiles*

I'm at the office where I spend my weekdays. The weekends are spent trying organize my home which is a disaster because overtime keeps from cleaning. So...yep, I feel your pain. The summer is passing me by and I have to get out there...

After I clean my mess-ass house.

You poor thing! I hate the heat too! I didn't realize you are pregnant! Congratulations! Stay cool my dear!

Kim, just be thankful you aren't about to deliver your little bundle of joy like the middle or end of next month! I don't think there are many areas of the country that have escaped this sweltering heat.
The baby robins are so cute...mama robin sure isn't fussy where she raises her babies, right next to the front door! My Mom had one build a nest on the ledge above her back door, didn't seem to bother that the door was opened several times a day.

Those baby birds are soooo sweet! So neat that they actually made a nest in your birdhouse! What keeps me enjoying outside is water, water, and more water, and the shade and fans too! If I didn't have all these fans on my porchs I'd roast! A little bit of sun and a lot of shade go along way in keeping me outside.

Hi Kim, I had the same dreams, but we have not been able to go outside either. I just got done watering and I looked like I just got out of the shower! It's just miserable. My neighbors have a pool, but the water is warm, so that doesn't do any good...lol. I am really dreading my next electric bill too. I don't think the air ever shuts off! I hope you are doing well with your new growing belly. I've been thinking about you!! Have a great day, Kristen

The heat wave hit here early and has been on going. I have plants that need to be pitched now - hate doing it. Don't think I have sat outside since mid May.
Stay cool!

The birds are so cute, Kim! It's been hot here, too, and I have plants already past their prime, too! I'm looking forward to less humidity and cooler temps that the middle of August will bring here! Take care...XO

It has been hot here, but we just go to the beach or pool to cool off. Hot is pretty much par for the course here! Our neighborhood has a community pool for which I am very grateful! Those little birds are so sweet! I love those little open mouths. So neat! Hope you are feeling well and we all get some relief from this heat soon!

Hi Kim,
It's really hot here in Michigan, too! Our only relief is to go out on the lake! I somehow missed your great baby news! Congrats!!! And the baby birdies are so sweet. Keep cool:)

Kim the heat is tough, I can imagine it there in Jersey, my Dad said it is horrible. But like you said it is ALL over...Florida was dreadful, Carolinas....just barely tolerable, but at night it is nice! Cute little birds, and they found the perfect home:) Debbie

I have been painting inside which helps with this terrible heat but have a few projects in the garage that make me perspire profusely!!!! My flowers are alive but just barely. Hang in there, it will get cooler!

By this time of year I have had it with the watering and weeding. I am always so excited when I plant my flowers in May but by the time July comes I despise it. Of course, my neighbors flowers and plants always look beautiful! Oh well, I am sure they are in envy of my spray paint marks left in the yard. Also, congratulations on expecting a little one!!! :)

You've got some cuties there.
We have had too much heat already and I have NO motivation to do much even if I'm inside, then I get upset when nothing gets done.
It's just a no win situation.

Good luck.

I know how you feel....it’s stinking hot out! Never been a big fan if summer. No, I like fall! I’m ready for pumpkin spiced lattes and jackets!

That is so neat that you have some new babies. I bet the kiddos enjoy peeking on them! If she did just happen to pick your house because she has a lot to choose from looks like she still picked a house that’s close to you so maybe it’s a mixture of both!

Ps....Thanks for your sweet words. For that comment you get 2 jars of pickles. ;o)

Those baby birds are so sweet! I've given up on sitting outside right now, too. It is just too hot. Maybe it will cool off a little bit soon.

I can relate...I had four of my six kids in August and September and remember when it was so hot, and this year has been even worse. Hope it cools down for you especially! I do good to get out early and water the flowers before they begin wilting.
Even the pool is too hot for the kids during the day.
On another note, I love your chair planter with the bird nest.. and how sweet is that little bird in there? Too cute. Great pictures!

It's hot here in Colorado too, but we're lucky because it cools down at night. I can relate to being pregnant during the summer. It's uncomfortable at best. This week two of my sons celebrate their summer birthdays. ;o) Hopefully it will cool down soon for you.

Hey, Kim. You are NOT alone. I, too, had dreams of sitting outside this Summer but, between the SUPER HOT weather and the RAIN, I haven't been out there either. I think I will steal your idea and even do a post myself regarding this! It is SO frustrating, isn't it?? I should write about it and get it out of my system! And may I say that this post of your baby birds is one of the cutest things I have ever seen. It is just so precious and adorable. When I write my post, I am going to send people over to your blog to see these pics! Well, stay cool, or dry, whatever weather we are having today!!
Best,
Gloria

Kim, I feel your pain. It is way too hot this year. Can't enjoy anything outside and I am watering my plants daily trying to keep them alive. So ready for cooler weather. Just twenty degrees cooler would be great. What a cute little family of birds.

How sweet! I am not enjoying the heat this year either, but no baby boom for us next year. We just had baby #6 in May! I think we'll take a break for a while;0)

Great pics of the baby birds. Being a city dweller - my highlight is when the Peregrine Falcons nest on the top of the sky scrapers. I see them swooping past my balcony and it makes me happy.
