Remember a couple of months ago when I purchased a new rug for the Dining Room? I took a poll and you all agreed that it was too small for the room.
That resulted in happy accident #1. Instead of returning it, I just moved it into the Living Room and I love it in there.
What? I never showed you the new rug? Ooops!
Much better, don't ya think?
Fast forward to happy accident #2. I've had my eye on Pottery Barn's Vanessa floral curtains for some time so when I saw that they were half price after Christmas I snatched them up with some Christmas money I received as a gift. They were for the Master Bedroom, only once the new paint color went up I quickly realized that they wouldn't work. They have a yellow tint to them and the new walls have a grayish tone to them. I thought I was going to have to return them until I realized that I've been wanting to get new window treatments for the Dining Room. They hadn't been replaced since we bought the house almost 13 years ago so I was ready for a change.
It's kinda strange that they look like they belonged in here all along! They coordinate perfectly with the rug, which was a, well, happy accident!
I spy happy accident #3:
While putting everything back into my new Master Bedroom, I stumbled upon #3. I got this sweet shelf at a yard sale last year, which you can read about here, and have always loved it in my bedroom. However, once again, it's on the yellow side and when I went to hang it I realized it would have to be painted. So I brought it downstairs with me and layed it down in the Dining Room while I went to the garage to grab my can of paint. When I came back in, I looked at it and a lightbulb went on in my head - it looked perfect in the Dining Room! I have an empty wall that needed something and the shelf is the perfect size. And better yet - it doesn't need to be painted!
It's very chippy and pretty fragile.
I love her in this room.
Some more views around the room.
I love happy accidents, don't you? It's all about thinking outside the box. Ya know, if I had taken more time to name my blog 3 years ago, I can think of about a million different names than the one I picked. And "Outside the Box" is just one of them. What are your happy accidents?
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulicious day!
xoxo,
Kim

So you got two rooms done then, Kim! Happy accidents are great; I think they wind up saving us money sometimes, too. Love the drapes. I got PB drapes for our master and I just love them. They hang so nicely.

Hi Kim, I love happy accidents and you had some good ones! Love the rugs, curtains and shelf...they all look perfect in their new spots.
I'm glad you like the piano in the room! It does look better than I thought it would. That is the only spot in the house it would go...now I can start on my craft room. Yay!
I sold the tall arrangment, but will be making more similar soon. I'll let you know when I get some more done.
I looked at your last post and you were very busy last year! Loved looking at all the pretty furniture you painted. You are good!!!
Loved the pic of you and the baby...what a blessing! Kristen
Everything looks GREAT! Love the tables in your bedroom and the hutch. Also the DR curtains do look so nice in there. Like the paint colors. You have been a busy gal since the first of the year!
I have that same rug in my entry! Lovely taste! :)
